Grand Manan Flowers

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some photos of flowers. These were taken at the house we rented on Grand Manan Island. She had lots of beautiful flowers around the house and as I was waiting for everyone to gather outside, so we could go hiking, I took a few photos. And, as you know, I am definitely not a gardener, so I'm not sure what kinds these are!

This week went by fast again too! I worked on Fireworks all week and will likely write the exam tomorrow and then on to the next subject!

I've been trying to spend some time each evening working with WordPress, because I should learn how to use it to create websites as well as all the Adobe products...it's  not covered in my program unfortunately. :-(  Right now my site is on an internal server, so I can't even share the link so you can check it out, but when I'm ready I'll buy a hosting package, so I can show the world! :-)

Friday was a PA day, so Keturah and I headed to Belleville to get my car fixed (the valve installed) and then we went to Melissa's house and went out to lunch with her and Kaden. We had a great visit with them!

More Grand Manan pics next week!

Saunders Country Zoo, THE END

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting the last of the photos from Saunders Country Zoo and Garden Centre near Ottawa. We had such a great visit that day, despite the humidity!

This time I have some more photos of the wallaby, he was up and walking around as we were leaving. I also included some photos of flowers I took in the zoo area as well as a fuzzy tree, which looked pretty cool!

Not sure what I'll share next time...I gotta go through the files!

Well, this week also went very fast....School is going great...I'm enjoying Illustrator and after one more assignment, I'll be done that course and onto the web stuff, I think!

On my day off on Friday, Keturah took my car to school so I didn't have a car...Zeek and I enjoyed the quiet day around the house, doing laundry and playing in the craft room!

On Saturday, Kevin and I went to Waterloo to see Brooke. We took her out shopping, Kevin bought her a new router and hooked it up. We also went to Costco for snacks to help her get through her upcoming exams...3 short weeks and she'll be home for Christmas! I'm tired today as we didn't get home til 11:30 or so...

Have a great week!

Springside Park Plants

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting the last of the photos from the Springside Park visit in early July. These include some raspberries, a thistle and some flowers..maybe weeds..I'm not a gardener of any kind, so don't know what any plants are called! :-)

Well, last week we headed to Grand Manan again for a quick visit...to check out a couple of properties...we were going to go in August, but Kevin got called to the school to work, so we never went, but since he's off now and we had the time, we packed up and went. We drove through the night on the way down, which really sucked and don't know if I'd do it again...I didn't sleep much when Kevin was driving, so when it came my turn at 2am..I had to stop and get some caffeine and we had to survive on coffee all the next day while we toured around. We had one full day of sightseeing...visiting all our favourite haunts and talking to people who live there! We drove straight home on Saturday, so that was a long day too, but more manageable because we had gotten a good night sleep the night before.

This week, I hope will be quieter...:-) Today is Keturah's 17th birthday..hard to believe she is that old...that, I'm THAT old! :-) In less than one year, she will be off to college! Scary, but exciting!

We may head to the zoo on Friday as it's a PA day, so I may not post again this week! Hopefully the weather cooperates..it hasn't all summer! I have passes for the zoo and we've been trying to go since June, but every time Brooke had a day off it rained or threatened to, so we will hopefully go Friday.

Enjoy your week!

More Springside Park

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some photos from the Springside Park, where the heron is usually found. There is always some sort of critter to take pics of, or some flowers/weeds or landscapes! I'm kind of fond of the waterfall myself and have tons of photos...especially on my phone!

This time I have some shots of a juvenile wood duck. We think he is anyway.... :-) Other shots include some thistles and some flowers with bees hanging around them.

Well, our weekend was pretty quiet. Kevin was sick with a cold from Friday-Monday and Keturah on Saturday. We did manage to go out shopping for a bit on Friday night (Keturah and I) and of course, our weekly grocery shopping trip on Sunday.

The paperwork has been submitted for my course, just the waiting game now to hear about the funding. They told me there's a two week turnaround, so I should hear by the end of the month! :-)

Enjoy your week!

Scenes from Springside Park

Welcome back!

This time I'm highlighting photos from one of my many walks at Springside Park and Boardwalk in Napanee. We walk here at least once a week, but more like three or four. We go here because it is a short drive from our house and we get to see so many interesting things along the way!

This visit in early June, we saw ducks, LOTS of wildflowers (ok, maybe they're weeds!), a snapping turtle and geese and their babies. So, I'll have a few weeks of shots to highlight.

Well, everyone is starting to drive me nuts around here...If I hear "I'm bored" one more time, I may run away from home (by myself!) :-) I should have found everyone a summer job!

We went to visit Grammy in Marmora yesterday, I spent some time in the craftroom and tonight I have a card class...Yep, starting our Christmas cards already. It's never too early...Michael's even have some of their Christmas stuff out already too!

Nothing planned for the weekend, but you never know what we'll end up doing!

Enjoy the weekend!

A few from the Fairfield Historical Park!

Welcome Back!

I found out the name of the park that I've been highlighting the ducks/geese from these last few weeks. It's called Fairfield Historical Park. We stopped there this morning, so I took note of the name...It's so funny, that I never noticed it before..It has a big plaque and everything! There's a house you can tour as well, but it's never open when we are there and they probably wouldn't allow dogs in either. We mostly go/stop there for Zeek! It's just the right size of park for him as he is tad bit lazy! Every time we take him to Lemoine's Point he always ends up with a tick and we can't have that. Kevin ended up with one and you'd think he was dying of Lyme Disease or something the way he was carrying on! :-) So, we tend to avoid Lemoine's during the summer.

This week I'm highlighting mostly floral shots. I LOVE lilacs, the colour and especially the scent, so I took quite a few shots. There's also one of a duck, another of two geese cruising along the lake and some flowers that someone planted..sorry I don't know what kind they are...

Well, the weekend was good...We ended up going to Peterborough to see Emily and as it was Kevin's birthday, we went out for sushi. We walked along the locks after supper too as everyone was stuffed from pigging out on all-you-can eat sushi (except me)!

Sunday, we enjoyed a quiet day at home, got some groceries and went for a walk after dinner. I took the Nikon and was rewarded by seeing the heron at the waterfall...I took quite a few photos. The longer we stayed, the better the light became!

Not much planned for this week, although I did go to the movies with my niece last night. We saw Tammy and it was funny and had a good story line too. I'm going to a card class on Friday night with my sister and that's my excitement for this week...

More later this week....

Scenes from Lemoine's Point!

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some shots I took while at Lemoine's Point Conservation Area in Kingston. This is probably our favourite place to go hiking...It takes us about 1.5-2hrs to go through the trail, but we often stop to feed the critters and of course, to take photos! I'm usually lugging 40lbs of camera equipment with me, so I'm usually way behind the family!

This time I'm including some photos of flowers and/or scenery..I don't usually add a lot of these as my favourite subject is wildlife, but I liked these photos and thought we needed some brightness, after the dreary rain we've been having here in Ontario!

I debated including the caterpillar and it took everything in me for me to add it...I HATE these things--even more than snakes! Yicky! Lucky for it, it's colourful!

Well, this week has been quiet..I've been feeling kind of crappy since Saturday...headache, plugged ears and sinuses....The Tylenol Cold/Flu that I take also upsets my stomach..lucky me! So, I've been taking it easy and trying not to take anything!

Later this week I'll have a few more shots from Lemoine's Point, including a deer and some birds! We always find a variety of critters there!

After that, I'm not sure what I'll include..maybe it's time to get out and shoot something new...A trip to Amherst Island may be in order!

A Few From the Indomalayan Pavilion!

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting a few I found in my files that don't fit into a specific category...

The fish and first three turtles were shot through glass. The last turtle (soft shell) was shot while he was swimming under the water, so it makes him look enlongated! And I threw in some floral shots that I liked.

I think I'll highlight photos of a pretty bird next time!

Well, not much new this week..just trying to stay cool and battle allergy symptoms! SIGH. I'm glad school is starting next week so I can get everyone into a routine again and my house should be cleaner too!

We are taking Brooke to Waterloo on Sunday for the start of her orientation week. Not looking forward to it as I'll probably be crying the whole day, but excited for her at the same time!

More soon!
