A Few From the Indomalayan Pavilion!

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting a few I found in my files that don't fit into a specific category...

The fish and first three turtles were shot through glass. The last turtle (soft shell) was shot while he was swimming under the water, so it makes him look enlongated! And I threw in some floral shots that I liked.

I think I'll highlight photos of a pretty bird next time!

Well, not much new this week..just trying to stay cool and battle allergy symptoms! SIGH. I'm glad school is starting next week so I can get everyone into a routine again and my house should be cleaner too!

We are taking Brooke to Waterloo on Sunday for the start of her orientation week. Not looking forward to it as I'll probably be crying the whole day, but excited for her at the same time!

More soon!

The Siberian Tiger

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting a few Siberian Tiger photos..ok, more than a few---11 to be exact! Out of the approx 100 I took, these were the ones I was happy with.

This gorgeous guy was in a cage by himself and is always so photogenic! He is found in the Eurasia outdoor area and he is one of the animals we always rush to see!

Well, we had a great time in Ottawa, enjoyed the nice weather and sat out on the patio all day Saturday! We also had a campfire with marshmallows, some great visits with friends and a little shopping on Sunday too! We always enjoy our visits there and wish we could visit more!

This week is the final preparations for Brooke to head to University...we drop her off on Sunday! I hope I can handle it!:-(

More photos soon!

Red-tailed Green Ratsnake!

Welcome Back!

Warning! Warning! For all those who do not like snakes-- I'm showing some snake shots! I wasn't going to highlight them, but I thought they turned out very well, considering they were shot thru glass...that's the only reason I would shoot them in the first place--with 2 inches of glass between him and me!

This guy was shot in the Indo-Malayan area again. He's called a Red-tailed green ratsnake. They are usually quite active when I'm there, so depending how creeped out I am, I sometimes avoid them. :-)

Well, I haven't been doing anything overly exciting..just getting Brooke ready for University. It seems she thinks of something else she needs every day, so we are running to Walmart or Kingston ALOT!

This weekend the girls and I are heading to Ottawa to visit our friends. We haven't been there since May (I think)! We're looking forward to it.

More soon!

Winged Things and Other Pretty Things!

Welcome Back!

Today I'm highlighting some butterflies and flowers that are found in the Indo-Malayan Pavilion.

There were TONS of butterflies this time..maybe because of the time of year. I've never seen this many before in this one area. Some of my photos did not turn out as well as I had hoped..probably because of the lighting in the building, so here are the ones that did!

Anyway, we haven't been doing too much lately (which is kind of boring)....just getting everyone ready for back-to-school...wish I was going back too! :-)

Have a great Sunday!

Duck, Duck, Egret!

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting more Toronto Zoo photos...Some Mandarin Ducks and a Cattle Egret. These were found in the Indo-Malayan exhibit. I just thought I'd highlight the photos as I took them and how they appear in my files--- so you can join in our journey through the Zoo! We hope to go to the Zoo again in the Fall if any amateur photographers out there want to join us! Just let me know!

Anyway, our trip to Syracuse was good. The girlies got lots of school stuff, so I think they are good to go. Brooke is heading to the University of Waterloo, so that will take some getting used to...us being a family of three! I'm going to miss her, but very thankful and excited she has the chance to go and pursue her dream of becoming an Optometrist!

Now that I'm not working and have some time on my hands, I will hopefully update more frequently!

Thanks for stopping by!

Lion-tailed Macaque

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some zoo animals from our visit to the Toronto Zoo in early June. The Lion-tailed Macaque to be exact! These cuties are one of the first animals we visit. Probably because we always go to the left when we visit the zoo!

Anyway, I just noticed that I didn't get an full-body shots of them--just close ups. They are sometimes hard to shoot as they are sometimes very active. These ones weren't overly active the day we were there. They are behind glass too, which can be a downside to getting good shots. The shot where he is showing his teeth, was a shot I got at the end of a YAWN.

I'm having a quiet weekend as I'm battling a sinus headache... I hope it goes away soon as the girls and I are off school shopping to Syracuse on Monday and Tuesday! I will likely post again on Wednesday!

Thanks for visiting!

The Last of the Moose!

Welcome Back!

I promise this is the LAST of the moose photos. Even I'm getting tired of seeing so many! I love all the photos of the moose, it's just that the colours in all these photos are all the same---blah- brown & greens! :-)

Onto something more colourful next time! I think I will start highlighting some animals from our last visit to the Toronto Zoo. My friend Melissa and I ventured there in June.

This moose was the last moose we saw during the May long weekend and we spied him as we were driving out of the park to go home. Of course, after all the other moose we saw, I thought I might not have enough shots! ;-) I'm surprised my family was fairly supportive of all my stops along the highway over the 3 days.

Well, things have been quiet around here (which is good I guess). Just trying to keep everyone entertained until school starts! :-D

The girls and I are heading to Canada's Wonderland tomorrow...was suppose to go last week, but the weather didn't cooperate, so tomorrow's forecast is suppose to be hot (oh yeah-NOT)!

I think the girls and I will be heading to Syracuse for an overnighter to do some back-to-school shopping next week.

More shots soon!
