Hole In The Wall, Grand Manan Island, NB

Hole In The Wall, Grand Manan Island, NB

Welcome Back!

This week I'm highlighting more photos from the Hole In The Wall area of Grand Manan. These include views from the area, which include, rock formations, fishing weirs, the ferry and the Swallowtail Lighthouse on a foggy afternoon! If you look closely at these, you will see a kayaker, a seal and a cormorant.

Sorry, I didn't post last week, I was under the weather on Sunday...tired out, achy, headache and sore throat. I thought that I was getting the dreaded cold that has been going around my family. Kevin got it Friday night! I have been fighting it all week as I've had the various symptoms, but I haven't actually got the full-blown illness yet!

Well, what have I been up to? Last Saturday, the girls and I headed to Ottawa for a surprise birthday party for my friend Anne, who turned 50 this week! She was surprised! It was a great day, but very long as we didn't get home til midnight!

This week at school went fairly fast as it was a short week. There was a PA day on Friday, so I got Thursday off as well! Yay! Accounting is very uninteresting...at least to me! :-) I will hopefully write the exam tomorrow and be done with it, I hope!

On Thursday, Brooke and I headed to the TO Zoo, as I had some coupons to use by the end of June. It was kind of a disappointing visit as it was very hot, which I don't like at all and there were a lot of school kids there! Sigh! A few of the animals that I wanted to see were not on display and the ones that were, were not very photogenic...sleeping and laying at the back of their enclosures! SIGH..oh well, you can't have a good visit every time, I guess!

Friday, Keturah and I went shopping as she was looking for a dress for her graduation. She found one! Saturday, we went hiking at Lemoine's Point. Didn't see too many birds, which was good, because we didn't take any seeds! We did see a lot of squirrels and chipmunks!

Studying and house stuff today! Have a great week!

Swallowtail Lighthouse, Grand Manan Island

Welcome back! This time I'm highlighting the LAST of the Swallowtail lighthouse photos...I'll bet you will be happy to move on...I think I have photos from our whale watching cruise up next...I still have to go through them all----about 500! Yikes, I better start that now!

This week, I worked on the PHP course again...yuck..I don't like it at all...another programming language that is so complicated! Luckily, Kevin's been helping me out or I'd still be stuck on lesson 4! I'm on the last lesson, so I'm hoping to be done it by Tuesday at the latest! :-D

Kevin and I went out for dinner on Friday night and on the way home we stopped at a park we frequent quite often, Fairfield Historical Park....we saw some geese and duck babies.. Unfortunately, I didn't have my Nikon with me, so we went to Kingston today so Kevin could get a haircut and we stopped on the way back. We only saw the geese and they didn't come too close so hopefully, I got a few good shots...The mayflies were the worse today...I'm still picking them out of my teeth! :-)

Have a great week!

Swallowtail Lighthouse, Grand Manan Island

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some more photos of the area surrounding the Swallowtail Lighthouse, these include various views of the cliffs, rocks, water and cove. It's such a cool area and I wish I was there right now!!!

Sorry, I didn't post last week! We were busy painting and when I wasn't painting, my laptop was buried under trim, etc...

Keturah had a great trip and got home on Tuesday night, very late! Brooke has resumed working at the ONRoute again, but is looking elsewhere too!

School is going well..not enjoying the PHP course that much, it is very challenging and there is so much to learn! I just have to get through a couple more lessons, then I'll be finished the Web Design program. Whoo Hoo! I will then have a couple of elective business courses and I hope to be done by the end of June as I think we are hoping to go to Grand Manan Island in early July.

We headed to Algonquin Park yesterday, just Kev, Zeek and me! We walked a few trails and tired out our pooch. We saw a couple of moose on the way out of the park, so I'll highlight photos of them in the near future too!

Have a great week!

Welcome Back!

This week I'm highlighting more photos from the Swallowtail Lighthouse...these include the ferry and some views of the rocky cliffs too! There are lots of rocks to climb on, so you can get a workout in as well. :-) Our little dog, Zeek, loves climbing and the rocks as well as our kiddies!

This week went by fast! I just finished the Portfolio course on Thursday...waiting for a couple of friends to review it and then I'll submit it for marking. No exam with this one! Yay! I got my PHP course on Thursday..it's my last Web Design course..it looks hard though..another programming language! Luckily, I have a built-in tutor with Kevin working with PHP all this year!

We got Brooke home safe and sound on Sunday and she's looking for summer employment. Keturah left yesterday on her school trip to Europe...They are going to Amsterdam, Berlin, Dresden and Krakow, Poland. They get to visit Auschwitz, Schindler's Factory, a bunch of museums and march in a Victory in Europe celebratory parade, representing Canada..pretty cool! She made it there safe and sound and texted me very, very early this morning!

Have a great week!

Swallowtail Lighthouse, Grand Manan Island

Welcome Back!

This time I'm including more photos from the Swallowtail Lighthouse area of Grand Manan. It's an area where we usually spend a good couple of hours every time we visit...just sitting and enjoying the view..it doesn't get better than this!! I can't wait to go back..hopefully in July!

This week went great...I finished the Web Practical Simulation and am taking a course on Web Portfolio...it's suppose to help you create an online portfolio. So, it should be a very useful course.

Our house is still in shambles...I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel of flooring! :-) Painting is next, I believe..sigh...My house will never be back to normal! Oh well, it will be worth it, if we sell it!

Tomorrow, we are heading to Waterloo to pick up Brookie! Yay! She's coming home for summer, so that should be fun and crazy too, if we all have to go 4 directions with 3 cars..yikes! I will hopefully be done school in about 6 weeks.. I only have 3 courses to go after this one! Another light at the end of a tunnel!

Have a great week!

Swallowtail Lighthouse, Grand Manan Island, NB

Welcome Back! This time I have some photos of a beautiful area and the most photographed on Grand Manan Island! This is the Swallowtail Lighthouse and the landmark of the Island. It's such a beautiful area....walk down a flight of stairs (going down is the easy part :-)) and then follow the trail to the lightkeepers house and all the trails around that lead to the edge of the cliffs. There are also benches where you can sit and watch the ferry, the kayakers, the seals and fishing weirs! That's what I hope to do when I retire there! :-)

Today's photos include the lighthouse, some views from the trail down to the lighthouse, some kayakers going by, a fishing weir and Long Island ( I think!) in the background. These photos make me want to pack and go there right now! :-)

Well, this week went by quite fast..I say that every week! At School, I finished Dreamweaver II and wrote the exam and now I am doing a Web Practical Simulation course, which includes a little bit of everything we've learned so far...lots of fun!

Friday, I spent most of the day working on my own small business website stuff...there's still lots to do! :-)

This week/weekend we've been busy spring cleaning and Kevin's been hard at work putting in laminate flooring in all the upstairs bedrooms. So our house is more of a mess than it usually is! :-) I'll be glad when it's finished!

Today I went to an open house for Sunset Gourmet Foods. I am doing some website/social media work for a consultant in Kingston, so she invited me to come and try the new products! Yummy!

Have a great week!

A Quick Post!

Welcome Back! We survived the weekend in Ottawa and had a great visit with friends, Anne & Fred and enjoyed seeing their new home!

I'm leaving for Oneida again in an hour or so, but wanted to add a short post and a few photos.

The first photo is the Swallowtail Lighthouse found on Grand Manan. When you start seeing this on the horizon, you know you are almost there..it feels like home to me when I see it--so I may have to retire there! I have a large print of this lighthouse hanging in my hallway and get to see it everyday!

This is also the most photographed lighthouse in Canada...I know it is for me alone. I have so many photos of it, but am just including the first one that I took as we made our way to Grand Manan,  just before disembarking from the ferry.

The 2nd, 3rd & 4th photos were taken the following morning as we walked around the harbour. I saw these spiderwebs glistening in the sunlight and tried to take a few photos. Very hard to shoot due to the sun and the fact that they were in someone's yard. But I did the best I could in the little time I had. I would have liked to "practice" more...maybe next time!

Enjoy your week!

Grand Manan 2010

Greetings from Grand Manan again (I think I said that last year too!) We made it safe and sound! Drove down through the USA for a couple of days. We travelled through New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine and ended up here yesterday about 6pm! I've had alot of cool photo opportunities along the way too, but here are a few, from JUST yesterday!

1st Photo-Humpback Whale Breaching---taken from the Grand Manan ferry yesterday!! I was so excited!
2nd Photo-Swallowtail Lighthouse from the Ferry--it turns 150 this year!
3rd Photo--A Woodpecker--taken in the front yard of our cottage, about 5 minutes after we arrived!
4th Photo--A Crab---saw a couple of these guys down on the beach during our walk last night. The girls had fun poking and playing with them!

Enjoy! More soon!
