St Andrews by the Sea, NB

Sorry for the delay in posting (or missing a week altogether!)! I was getting ready to travel last weekend and then travelled to Oneida for a couple of days. Then I was wiped when I got home and guess what? I get to do it again this weekend! Yep, I'm heading out again to Oneida for the whole week! Yikes! I hope I survive it! :-)
Anyway, this week, I wanted to add some photos from St Andrews that I had taken and that I hadn't added as yet. Looking through my photos makes me wish I was back there walking on a beach! I love it down East!
1st-4th---are all photos of Seaweed! Yep! Seaweed. It's really neat and it sounds squishy when you walk on it OR it pops like bubble wrap too sometimes! Pretty cool!
5th- a cool rock formation with a pretty sky
6th-a BIG scallop shell
7th- the Pendlebury Lighthouse-it was under renovations last year...glad to see it back in order!
Next week I'll have a few more pics from this area--of some sea critters!
Have a GREAT week!

The Huntsman Part 2

Welcome Back! This week I'm including the last of the good photos from the Huntsman Marine Science Centre in St. Andrews, NB. We always enjoy it there because, as you can see from the photos, there is quite a variety of critters to check out!
This week I've included 3 fish, who shall remain nameless, as I didn't write it down in my journal! :-)
4th photo- is a sea urchin. We saw some in the wild in St Andrews as well, which we picked up and poked and terrorized! Just kidding!
5th-8th photos- are skates. They were so very cool. One came up out of the water for his photo opp and one wanted to see if Brooke would feed him! The other two shots are of them cruising around the pond.
9th & 10th Photos-are a grey seal who would not pose for a decent photo, so these are the two best ones! :-)
Have a great week!

Huntsman Marine Science Centre

Welcome Back! This week I have photos from the Huntsman Marine Science Centre in New Brunswick...We have been here before but it now has a new name I believe and when we passed through St Andrews, NB last year, it was closed for renovations. It was open this year and looks much nicer with all the same critters!
Our favourite section is the touch tank, which is where all these photos were taken..My family loves picking them up and poking them, etc.etc.
1st Photo-Scallop that Kevin was holding
2nd Photo-the underside of a big SeaStar that Brooke was showing me
3rd Photo-A Sea Peach that Brooke was holding onto
4th Photo-a big Green Crab that Keturah was holding up
5th Photo- a couple of Sea Stars laying around
6th Photo-Keturah holding a little Hermit Crab
7th Photo-another Large Sea Star
8th Photo-Keturah holding up a little Crab
Have a GREAT week!

Sunset in St. Andrews by the Sea!

Wow,  my post title sounds like a song title! Sorry for posting so late this week. The family and I went to Niagara Falls as Friday was a PA day and therefore a long weekend for us! We had hoped to go to Algonquin Park, but I could NOT find a cottage available that was under $300 a night! Busy this time of year I guess! So, we went to our next favourite place!
It was a very nice weekend (except for a bit of rain on Mon) and we sure kept busy and now I must catch up on my sleep! LOL I have also went back to volunteering at Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays...no rest for the wicked!
This week I'm highlighting some scenic sunset shots I took at St. Andrews-by-the-Sea. We stayed there 1 night before we headed to Grand Manan Island, NB.
It's such a beautiful area and I really enjoyed the heron who hung around the whole time we were there. You can see him in most of my shots below!
Have a great week!
