Here are a few more horse shots from Saturday at the farm...The first is Andy, looking in the barn, 2nd is a cute horse with ribbons in his/her hair, 3rd is a shot of Chinook (I think) and 4th is a shot of Amigo, also looking into the barn!
This is my blog to showcase some pictures that are near and dear to my heart-funny, original and hopefully creative!

Slip Slidin Away...
Today, we headed to the farm for Keturah's riding lesson and slid right past the driveway...it was glare ice on the backroads! It was also very slippery in the farm yard and the horses were sliding around too. I almost fell a few times myself! The ring was too icy to ride, so they did their lesson out in the field, where it was just snowy and slushy and pouring rain at times. How dedicated some of these kids are (Keturah especially!). Lucky for me, I brought my big umbrella so stayed mostly dry! Here are some horse shots while they were in the barn, but they still all look pretty soggy though.
1st Pic- Arwin- (my favourite shot of the day!)
2nd Pic-Amigo (I think) He wanted into the barn.
3rd Pic-Nicki (Keturah rode this little one today!)
4th Pic-Freya looking over her stall at the other horses

A Quick Post....
to let you know I'm still alive, just busy wrapping, wrapping, wrapping!
We went to see the Ottawa Senators play at Scotiabank Place on Saturday for my birthday and stayed overnight too. We met up with my friend, Anne for brunch and visited with her while we watched the snow come down and blow around. We were thinking about staying over another night because the snow was so heavy, but then about 2pm, it cleared right up and wasn't nearly as bad, so we headed home. It took us 3.5hours, but we got home, safe and sound. Traffic was pretty good, given the road conditions and we only saw 1 accident--a jack-knifed tractor trailer between Kingston and Napanee. The snow did start up again in Gananoque, but we just took it easy!
Anyway, today, I'm just adding a picture of the scoreboard showing that Ottawa beat the Dallas Stars in overtime. Considering how badly they've played lately, it was pretty great to see them win while we were there! I had to use Brooke's camera as SLRs are not allowed at Scotiabank Place, so I'm not sure of the quality!

Pretty Bird
Here are some shots of our beloved cockatiel, Wyatt. He was actually being good while I took some pics of him...it must have been because we were putting up our Christmas tree the other night and he's always scared of new things!
Well, I'm off to Toronto today to teach tomorrow...the good thing is that the family is coming with me...they plan to visit the Science Center tomorrow and we will likely do some shopping today...I'm almost done! Yeah!
Here's "Pretty Bird Wyatt" (I like the 2nd shot the best, it shows his whole crest!)

Upper Canada Village
Sorry for not posting in a week! Wow, time flies when you're having fun I guess. Busy time of year, plus I'm travelling for work too.
So here's a few pictures of our trip to Upper Canada Village. We went on Saturday night to see the lights---they have 275,000 lights throughout the village. We walked around and went for a wagon ride, had some dinner and then some hot chocolate and got home about 9:30pm.
Sunday I was off to Rama--the good news, besides seeing Kenny Rogers (hee hee--free tickets), is that I am now done teaching there! Yeah!!! Now I have a couple of trips left to Toronto and then I'll be done travelling for awhile!
Here are the pics for today---I should have used a tripod for the night shots, but this camera lets you set the ISO to 6400, so I just shot them hand-held. They didn't turn out too bad, a bit noisy, but it's hardly noticeable (hopefully!)
1st shot-Kevin, Emily, Keturah and Brooke
2nd shot-the church all lit up
3rd shot-Keturah outside the general store

A Beautiful Day on the Farm...
Sorry for not posting in awhile, I have been trying to get at my Christmas shopping and think I made a dent in it this weekend!
Here are some MORE horse pictures from the farm. Yesterday was a great day for riding and for shooting pictures!
The first picture is that of a new horse, so I'm not sure of her name yet. She is a beauty though. I'm not sure of the name for the next horse picture either. The last picture is that of Bear, a boarder at the farm, who was actually leaving yesterday to go to another farm, so I caught him peeking out of the stall before he left.

At Long Last...
Whoo Hoo!! I finally traded in my old D40 and got a D90. I've been doing research for the last couple of weeks and decided on getting the 90 instead of the 80...course, now we have to eat kraft dinner for a couple of weeks..haha just kidding. (But I did tell the kids that.)
I also got a more versatile lens for it as well ---18mm-105mm (with vibration reduction too). My last one was only 18-55mm, so this one will be a great addition along with my zoom (70-300mm).
The new camera has quite a few neat features that include:
12.3 megapixels
11 autofocus points
3" LCD screen
Live view of pictures
Video mode
shoots 4.5 frames per second
and on and on...Wow..it is going to take me awhile to figure some of these out. I'm just waiting for the battery to charge and then I'm off to learn, learn, learn! I did buy a DVD that takes you through all the features which will help as I had one for the d40 as well.
Here is a shot of my new toy that I took with Brookie's Canon and then Brookie took a pic of me playing around with it...
I won't be able to add any new pics until Tuesday because I'm travelling again tomorrow for work...this time to Toronto!
More soon....

Busy, Busy!
Sorry for not posting for awhile... We went to the Belleville Parade on Friday night (very nice and warm weather) and Brooke had friends over too. We all went to see Madagascar 2, which was really cute. Sunday and Monday I was travelling for work and last night we went to see GREAT BIG SEA in Kingston! It was totally awesome, but I'm quite tired today.
Here are some horse pics again....Keturah's class was switched to Sunday morning because it was so rainy on Saturday and then on Sunday it was snowing and cold, so these pictures are of the horses looking in the barn, probably wishing they were in there to keep warm!
1st pic-Chinook, 2nd-Jerome, 3rd-a few horses looking in the barn

Cute Kitties!
Here's a couple of pictures of some cute, cool cats! They belong to our friends Anne and Fred and live in Ottawa and we got to visit them on the weekend. Because we can't have cats at our house (Kevin=allergies), we really enjoy our time with them (and their owners too)!!
1st pic-Mickey (who I couldn't get to look at the camera)
2nd pic-Bailey (I have quite a few pics of her looking annoyed at me!)

At Long Last...
Sorry I haven't posted in quite awhile (over a week actually). I had a couple of craft classes last week and then the girls and I were off to Ottawa for the weekend and got home later than usual on Sunday night. I was off Monday and today too, but have been working on my Christmas cards (handmade, of course!)
Anyway, we had a great time in Ottawa and the reason we went, other than to visit our friends at long last, was to see the Lipizzaner Stallions. Yep, we had front row seats, which was pretty awesome. I bought the tickets online in July and so we've been waiting this long to see them! It was a pretty good show and the horses are just beautiful! I was very thankful that we could take pictures during the performance (but I didn't use the flash!)
