Lemoine's Point Conservation Area Wildlife

Kingston, Ontario

Welcome back!

This time I'm highlighting some of the wildlife found at the Lemoine's Point Conservation Area in Kingston, Ontario. We love going for walks here in the spring and fall.

This day in June 2015, we saw mallard ducks and their babies as well as a few squirrels and chipmunks. Here are a few of those pics with more coming over the next couple of weeks too!

We are heading to Ontario for Easter holidays, so I won't be posting for a couple of weeks. Have a great Easter weekend!

More soon!

Bird Kingdom, Pt.17

Bird Kingdom, Niagara Falls, ON

Welcome back!

This week I have more photos of the hornbill...I think this guy is so cool, with that big beak! I tend to take a lot of photos of it! I also have photos of a giant wood rail, a ringed teal duck and an emerald starling this week.

All of these were taken in the big aviary at the Bird Kingdom in Niagara Falls. I highly recommend this place...we've been there several times and keep going back!

Well, I can't believe the weekend is almost over already...time off sure goes fast! Kev and I drove to Algonquin Park on Saturday. We hiked 3 trails and had lunch outside. We saw a couple of moose, but they were not close enough for good photos! :-( We enjoyed the day though being outside and walking our doggie. Sunday we went out to get haircuts and then went for a drive, stopping at Lake Ontario Park and at the waterfront in Gananoque...it was a beautiful day. Got our groceries and headed home. Today was laundry day and binge-reading day. Yep, I downloaded a novel and spent most of the day reading...felt awesome to relax and do very little! :-)

Have a great week!

More Springside Park

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some photos from the Springside Park, where the heron is usually found. There is always some sort of critter to take pics of, or some flowers/weeds or landscapes! I'm kind of fond of the waterfall myself and have tons of photos...especially on my phone!

This time I have some shots of a juvenile wood duck. We think he is anyway.... :-) Other shots include some thistles and some flowers with bees hanging around them.

Well, our weekend was pretty quiet. Kevin was sick with a cold from Friday-Monday and Keturah on Saturday. We did manage to go out shopping for a bit on Friday night (Keturah and I) and of course, our weekly grocery shopping trip on Sunday.

The paperwork has been submitted for my course, just the waiting game now to hear about the funding. They told me there's a two week turnaround, so I should hear by the end of the month! :-)

Enjoy your week!

Geese and Ducks, Pt. 3

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting more of the ducks and geese found at the Fairfield Historical Park in Amherstview.

I only have one shot of the ducks as they were passing through the throng of geese/goslings! These photos were taken when a family beside us started feeding them bread. The adults hung back and let the babies get the bread and in some cases would give them a push up to the front! It was cute to watch!

Well this week is almost over! We didn't make it to Watertown on Tuesday because Brooke double-booked herself, so we "hope" to go tomorrow! :-) Keturah and I managed to get out and do some shopping in Belleville and she actually found some clothes she liked for school! (Teenagers!) Hopefully they will find some clothes in Watertown.

Nothing planned for the long weekend, although I do have Toronto Zoo passes to use up...not sure how busy it will be though! We'll also be doing some packing for Brookie. Fun!

Have a great weekend!

A few from the Fairfield Historical Park!

Welcome Back!

I found out the name of the park that I've been highlighting the ducks/geese from these last few weeks. It's called Fairfield Historical Park. We stopped there this morning, so I took note of the name...It's so funny, that I never noticed it before..It has a big plaque and everything! There's a house you can tour as well, but it's never open when we are there and they probably wouldn't allow dogs in either. We mostly go/stop there for Zeek! It's just the right size of park for him as he is tad bit lazy! Every time we take him to Lemoine's Point he always ends up with a tick and we can't have that. Kevin ended up with one and you'd think he was dying of Lyme Disease or something the way he was carrying on! :-) So, we tend to avoid Lemoine's during the summer.

This week I'm highlighting mostly floral shots. I LOVE lilacs, the colour and especially the scent, so I took quite a few shots. There's also one of a duck, another of two geese cruising along the lake and some flowers that someone planted..sorry I don't know what kind they are...

Well, the weekend was good...We ended up going to Peterborough to see Emily and as it was Kevin's birthday, we went out for sushi. We walked along the locks after supper too as everyone was stuffed from pigging out on all-you-can eat sushi (except me)!

Sunday, we enjoyed a quiet day at home, got some groceries and went for a walk after dinner. I took the Nikon and was rewarded by seeing the heron at the waterfall...I took quite a few photos. The longer we stayed, the better the light became!

Not much planned for this week, although I did go to the movies with my niece last night. We saw Tammy and it was funny and had a good story line too. I'm going to a card class on Friday night with my sister and that's my excitement for this week...

More later this week....

Waccatee Zoo, Pt. 3

Welcome Back!

Sorry for the delay in posting! I missed Friday's usual post as Keturah had a PA day and so we headed to Kingston to do some errands, shopping, etc. Saturday we had a family dinner with Kevin's family..a great visit and good eats! Sunday we headed to Kingston for some shopping and we walked along the water at the parks on the way there...I took some photos of baby ducks, but missed the geese babies! Maybe next weekend!

This time I'm highlighting more of the Zoo shots. These include the Cattle Egrets in the first three photos. The first photo shows them all nesting or getting ready to nest...this area is a breeding ground. Other shots include a black swan, some ducks and some peccaries, or small pig critters. The little ones are always so cute as they get running around chasing each other, just like human kids! :-)

More on Friday! Have  a great week!

Alligator Adventure: Birds, Birds, Birds!

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some birds from the Alligator Adventure. I'm not sure what kind the first two are... I was aiming to get a "foot" shot of the first bird..it's got really big feet! The rest of the shots are ducks and swans.

Next time I'll have more alligator shots..almost done with them!

This week has been crazy..we've had more snow days then school days! Brooke and I managed to hang out at the mall the other day and the gym yesterday! Today I had an appointment with Career Edge for help with the job hunting. I think I'll be doing HTML/CSS homework all weekend as I'm a bit behind! :-(  Brooke heads back on the train on Sunday. Wow, the week sure went by fast!

Have a great weekend!
