Geese and Ducks, Pt. 3

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting more of the ducks and geese found at the Fairfield Historical Park in Amherstview.

I only have one shot of the ducks as they were passing through the throng of geese/goslings! These photos were taken when a family beside us started feeding them bread. The adults hung back and let the babies get the bread and in some cases would give them a push up to the front! It was cute to watch!

Well this week is almost over! We didn't make it to Watertown on Tuesday because Brooke double-booked herself, so we "hope" to go tomorrow! :-) Keturah and I managed to get out and do some shopping in Belleville and she actually found some clothes she liked for school! (Teenagers!) Hopefully they will find some clothes in Watertown.

Nothing planned for the long weekend, although I do have Toronto Zoo passes to use up...not sure how busy it will be though! We'll also be doing some packing for Brookie. Fun!

Have a great weekend!

Geese & Ducks, Pt. 2

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting more of the same as last time...Ducks and ducklings and geese and goslings from the Fairfield Historical Park along the Loyalist Parkway near Amherstview. They are so cute to just sit and watch.

I'm posting a day early this week as the girls and I are hoping to go to Watertown tomorrow for some back-to-school shopping. Brooke's been wanting to go for awhile, but with her work schedule, it was hard to plan anything. She was done work on Friday, so we are making the trek tomorrow! Then she is off to Ottawa for a couple of days to visit her friend(s)!

The house sure is quiet (except for the washing machine)! Kevin's back to work today and the girl's stayed overnight at a friend's house last night and haven't returned yet. It's just Zeek and me hanging out in my craft room/office. He sleeps curled up on my desk on a big fuzzy blanket..He'd rather me pick him up, but then I can't type as fast! :-)

More later this week!

Geese and Goslings, Ducks and Ducklings!

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some more geese/gosling and duck/duckling photos and some sort of plant we found there too.

These were taken in June at Fairfield Historical Park. One of our favourite parks to stop at with Zeek as it isn't very big. I think I mentioned that he's kind of a lazy dog and would prefer the couch to walking. He does get excited when we mention the park, but then he's quick to turn around and want to come home too! Crazy guy!

I have a few of these to highlight over the next couple of weeks! More next week!

Well, this week was fairly quiet. We did some school shopping for Keturah and and made a trip to Costco. I had a doctor's appointment and Keturah had a driving lesson. Kevin is back at QMS next week for a couple of weeks..maybe longer (hopefully)! We take Brooke back to Waterloo on September 2nd. She's moving into an apartment and needs to get some furniture, so we'll likely stay overnight and get her set up.

Can't believe its the weekend already! Enjoy!

Snapping Turtles

Welcome Back!

This week I'm highlighting some of the snapping turtle shots I took back in June. We saw about 12 of them within 3 days...these two were close to home, so Keturah and I drove down the road and took some photos. I have a long lens, so I can stand way back and not get too close while they are doing their business (laying eggs). When the one was done, she kept heading for the road, so Keturah kept moving her off into the ditch, but she was a stubborn one and kept trying to go up on the road!

We learned the proper way to handle snapping turtles when we volunteered at Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre...I used to give one of the snappers his "soak" every night I volunteered, which meant lifting the heavy guy into a big tub of water! He seemed to enjoy it, so that was all that mattered!

Well, I'm still a bit tired from all the travelling we did, but we had an AWESOME time in Grand Manan. We did a lot of hiking, beachcombing and taking photos all week! I miss it already and will definitely go back...maybe permanently at some point! I took photos of all the lighthouses, scenery and some whales! We went on a whale watch cruise and saw about 12 of them..mostly Right Whales and a Humpback. I'll highlight them in the coming weeks! I have to sort through all of them! SIGH!

More later this week!

Geese, Pt. 4

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting the last of THESE geese pictures. I have more geese shots taken at another park, but will save those for another day! I managed to get a couple of the goslings by themselves as they were scurrying to get into the water!

Well, the weekend was busy..for us anyway! We had a BBQ at my niece's house on Friday night. My other niece and her family came for a visit from Kentucky and it was great seeing them as it has been about 18 months since we saw them last!

On Sunday we had another BBQ at my sister's house. It kind of rained during dinner but the food was tasty...Although we all ate too much! :-)

Well, this will be my last post until after holidays as we leave early Friday morning. My list is prepared, so I just have to finish laundry and start packing clothes/food/fishing stuff! Looking forward to the time away at my favourite Island.

Have a great couple of weeks!

Geese, Pt. 3

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting more of the goslings and their parents. These babies are so cute too shoot! I have a few more to highlight next week, then I'll move on to something else..maybe the photos from Saunders Farm in Ottawa!

Well, this week was fairly quiet. I ran errands for my uncle's estate and the girls and I did some shopping for Brooke's apartment! We helped her spend her money! :-)

Well, one week until we leave for Grand Manan, NB. I am so looking forward to going away...probably more this year than any. We are leaving a bit later this year too, so that's probably why it seems to be taking forever to get here! We have rented a house and my sister and brother-in-law are coming too! Should be fun to show them the sights of our future homeland! Just kidding...maybe!

Have a great long weekend!
