Algonquin Adventures, Pt. 6

Welcome Back!

I'm late posting this week as I had an appointment in Kingston yesterday and didn't feel like "computing" when I got home..had a nap instead! :-) I think I'm fighting off Keturah's cold!

This time I'm highlighting the last of the Algonquin Park pictures. Only a few of the last moose we saw as we were heading home. There were quite a few people stopping to take photos of this one! Kevin actually took a photo of all of us photographers trying to get the money-shot of the moose...

Well, the girls and I are suppose to head to Ottawa for the weekend to visit friends. Keturah and Brooke are sick and I'm fighting it off, so we'll see if we actually get there! So, I won't be posting on Friday as per usual.

So, I hope you have a great week and weekend! More next week!

Algonquin Adventures, Pt.5

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some photos of flowers/plants and some scenery. I have included some red trilliums, the white dutchman's breeches and some fiddleheads for plants.

The scenery shots are from the Lookout Trail. We didn't walk the whole trail. We actually just went to the end, where this lookout was..we were getting lazy by this time of day and it was sprinkling out...I didn't want Kevin to melt. :-)

The last two shots are of a little noisy chipmunk that was chirping at us (probably at Zeek)!

I have a few more moose shots next time and that will be it for our Algonquin Adventures!

Well, this week was kind of mixed up...the van appt isn't until next Thursday (duh!) I didn't read the date! I also had my dentist appt moved from next week to this week, so that was fun! Only a cleaning, so not so bad!

The girls and I went and picked strawberries and peas down the road from our house at Kaiser Lake Farms. That was a yummy trip!

Keturah writes two exams today and then she'll be officially done Grade 11! Starting Monday, I won't ever have my house to myself...quiet and clean! :-) Kevin has one week of work left before he is off for the summer too! Brooke will be the only one working! :-)

Nothing planned for the weekend! Enjoy it!

Algonquin Adventures, Pt. 4

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting more moose photos. These look like the same moose as last time (I think)! Next time I'll be highlighting some plants/flowers photos that I took along a trail. We also saw some turkeys, but I didn't get their photo as they were heading to the woods by the time we noticed them! :-)

Well, the weekend was a quiet one, which is always good....Friday night, Keturah and I went for a drive to Amherstview where we see the baby geese and this time we saw some really small baby ducks. Hopefully, we got some good photos..Keturah also rescued a painted turtle off the road, along the way!

On Saturday, we all went to Kingston to do some shopping and we also got our groceries at Loblaws for a change! On Sunday, Father's Day, we went for a drive and took the ferry to Picton and back again. We drove towards Kingston and stopped at several parks along the way to check out the wildlife/scenery..... We then took Dad out for hamburgs (veggie burgs) at The Works in Kingston.

This week should be pretty quiet, save for an appt for Kevin's van on Thursday! This is also Keturah's last week of school before exams start! Yikes, where did the year go?

Enjoy your week!

Algonquin Adventures, Pt. 3

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting more photos from our Algonquin Park day trip on the May long weekend.

The first picture is a shot taken at the Spruce Bog Trail. After that trail, we started to see some moose. We saw these two together--in the same swampy area. The one looked very rough looking and skinny too! The other one didn't look as bad. They stood there quite awhile letting people take their picture! The one with the big antlers left first and so I didn't get too many shots of him!

Well, this week went by fast! I wasn't feeling that well all week, with headaches, then the Tylenol I took upset my stomach, so I felt rough for a couple of days too! I did manage to visit with my friend, Laurie Ann for a coffee or two and I drove Brookie to work a couple of days too, so I could have the car. :-)

I took some photos of turtles along the road this week..I've seen 12 in the last three days, most of them laying eggs along the roadside. Pretty cool! One was in our neighbour's flowerbed last night...oh well, whatever works! I'll highlight them here eventually!

Nothing planned for the weekend, but Brooke is off tomorrow, so we might get to do something as a family!

Have a great weekend!

Algonquin Adventures, Pt. 2

Welcome Back!

This time I'm  highlighting more photos from our Algonquin day trip on the May long weekend. These photos are from the Logging Museum Trail, the Visitor's Centre and the Spruce Bog Trail. Mostly some scenery, greenery and a cute red squirrel who was greeting guests at the start of the trail.

Well, the weekend was pretty good. The girls and I enjoyed the trip to Watertown, except Keturah was sick with a head cold..she's still sick with it! I think I'm fighting it off, as I've had a headache for a couple of days along with a sore throat now and then...SIGH.

On Sunday we had a quiet day at home.....we didn't go to Peterborough as Emily came down this way, so she dropped by after supper for a visit.

Last week and this week I've been planning our summer holiday..trying to find hotels in New Brunswick is challenging..maybe because we're going later than usual...We may have to sleep in our van on the way home! :-) Anyway, the plan is to go to a cottage on Grand Manan Island again in August. It's the one spot we all enjoy and we're even bringing my sister and her husband as they've never been down East before...should be fun!

Enjoy your week!

Algonquin Adventures, Pt.1

Welcome Back!

This time I'm starting to highlight the photos from Algonquin Park. We headed up there for a day trip on the Sunday of the May long weekend. Kev, Keturah, Zeek and I hit the road early. We did lots of driving and hiked 3 or 4 trails and ended up in Huntsville for dinner, ice cream for dessert at the Kawartha Dairy and then the long trip home. It wasn't as tiring as I thought it would be, doing all that in one day.

The first two moose pictures below show a moose that was far away, off the road, south of Bancroft...I was so excited to see it, because we've only ever seen them within the Algonquin Park boundaries, other than down East, that is!

The rest of the photos were taken at our first hiking adventure--at the Logging Trail Museum. Usually get quite scenic photos, but today's were a little gray-looking as it was overcast off and on most of the day with some "spitting" in there as well! :-)

This week has been quiet..Zeek got his haircut, so he looks so skinny now and I can see his eyes! Brooke and I did some errands and some shopping today.

Tomorrow the girlies and I are heading to Watertown for some retail therapy for the day and on Sunday we are heading to Peterborough to visit Emily and see her new apartment! Should be a fun weekend!

Have a great weekend!

Waccatee Zoo--Final Shots

Welcome Back!

This week I'm highlighting the last of the Zoo photos. These are all winged creatures...Peacocks,  Peahens and a chicken! I wanted to show off the peahen and her lack of colour (compared to the male)..sometimes I don't even see these, maybe they are nesting when we are there...The peacock, with its long, long tail is very hard to get into one shot, so I included the only shot that I got of it! I also liked this shot of the chicken!

Well, this week will hopefully be a quiet one...Zeek is getting his hair cut on Thursday, so that will be good. He's pretty shaggy looking..should have had a cut two weeks ago, but our groomer is always so busy!

Enjoy your week!
