Saunders Country Zoo-Farm Animals

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some photos of some of the farm animals found at Saunders Country Critters Zoo and Garden Centre. We went for a visit to Ottawa the end of June and our friends took us to this awesome place...They have such a variety of animals to view and a wonderful "meet the animals" show as well, we got to pet so many exotic animals because we stuck around and talked to the owners/employees (after all the little kids left!) :-)

So, over the next few weeks, I'll be highlighting more of the animals found there! These are mostly goats but can't remember exactly the kind they are...the second to last one is an angora goat with the curly hair! The last one is a sheep...I don't like to post photos of animals with fences in their face, but this one was too cute!

Well, we didn't make it to the zoo on Friday...Keturah had to go to the doctors and get blood work done, so when she was done with that, we went shopping in Kingston for the day. Kevin had to work at QMS too for a couple of days and all this week as well, so he wouldn't have been able to come! So, not sure when we will get there!

This week will be a busy one again with dentist for Keturah and a couple of long overdue lunch dates with some friends that I haven't seen in awhile on Thurs and Fri. Still waiting to hear about school. It's waiting final approval, so I should find out by the end of this week and hopefully start next week!

I'll likely be back with more on Friday! Enjoy your week!

Waccatee Zoo, Pt. 2

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting more of the Waccatee Zoo photos. Most of them are farm animals..I mentioned that they did have a variety of critters there!

Today you'll find, emus, Patagonian Mara (rodent like critter), cows, a turtle and some goats. The last goat photo shows this little guy's double set of horns. Apparently, it's a rare occurrence. He posed so cute!

Well, the weekend sure went by fast! Long weekends always do! We had a delicious family dinner on Saturday. On Sunday we headed to Algonquin Park for the day. It was a great day, despite the clouds and a bit of spitting on us! We hiked 3 trails and saw 7 or 8 moose. I only got photos of 3 or 4 as some were too far away to get good shots. Had dinner in Huntsville and headed home..And, we saw a deer---up close...he ran out in front of me as I was driving from Bancroft..I didn't get his photo though! :-) Monday we spent a quiet day at home, doing not much of anything (ok, I did some crafts)! We did get out for a walk in Napanee after dinner. It sucked that Brooke  had to work all weekend!

Looks like a quiet week this week..maybe do some job hunting! Today's fun is laundry, dishes and grocery shopping!

More animal shots later this week!

Waccatee Zoo

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some photos from the Waccatee Zoo in Myrtle Beach, actually it's about 25 minute drive out of town, but well worth it. It's kind of run down, but they have a great selection of animals and you are allowed to feed most of them (with their approved snacks).

As you enter the admission building, you see aquariums with snakes, lizards and turtles. Sometimes hard to get good shots through glass, but I managed to get a couple of snake photos..I didn't stick around long to see what kind they were..just eager to see the other animals!

The rest of the critters I'm showing today are farm animals....a big piggie and some goats. The goats were rather calm, surprising, because they are usually pushing others out of the way to get some of the treats that they sell at reception...maybe because it was so cold on the day we were there. It was 22 on Wednesday and we went to the zoo on Thursday and it was going to be 8. Brrr. it was quite chilly after having such hot weather all week...Good thing I had my winter coat with me, because I definitely needed it that day!

I'll have some more next week!

Well, this week was good. I managed to do everything I had planned! Brooke was home most of the week as she has to work today and every day of the long weekend! So, I'm having a quiet day at home alone doing some chores and laundry. Fun, fun, fun..not!

We are having my sister and hubby over for dinner tomorrow night but no other plans. Thinking about taking a drive to Algonquin Park for a drive for the day, but we'll see how everyone feels come Sunday!

Enjoy your long weekend!

The "Kids" at Wacatee Zoo

The "kids" I am referring to are baby goats. These were taken at the Wacatee Zoo in Myrtle Beach in March. I'm not a big fan of goats for some reason...I think they are the "bully" of the animal world as they are always pushing others out of the way and head butting each other, but even I couldn't resist these cute babies!

Well, guess what? It's almost time for our summer vacation! Yeah! We are leaving on Thursday to head to Grand Manan Island in New Brunswick..probably my idea of the happiest place on earth! Well, at least in the summer--no mosquitos, no snakes and no overbearing humidity! When can I move there? :-) We plan to stop in Quebec City and maybe St. Andrews on the way there and perhaps Salem, MA on the way home!

This will be our 3rd visit to the island and we are looking forward to walking the beaches, relaxing and enjoying the spectacular sunsets, not to mention all the fresh fish and seafood! Unfortunately, I don't believe we will have WI-FI at the cottage where we are staying, so I won't be able update for a couple of weeks! But I will likely add some photos via Facebook!

Have a great couple of weeks!
