Keturah and Nikki
Here are a few pics of Keturah riding a horse called Nikki. Abby had a sore back at lessons last weekend, so Keturah rode Nikki, who is a very energetic,, little horse (pony?). Keturah enjoyed going fast on her as well as taking her over the jumps!
Sorry I haven't posted in soo long...I've been tired out all week from travelling for work on Sun-Mon and then soo busy at work too and then the girls and I went to see Cirque du Soleil yesterday in Ottawa with a trip from the school. Today was a good day to kick back and relax, play some guitar hero, etc.etc. given the rainy weather...Wish it were snow!!! (I'm definitely a winter person!)
Anyway, I hope you enjoy today's offerings:

Wildlife in Algonquin...
Here are some shots of the wildlife we saw in Algonquin Park...includes a gray jay, a swallow (I think), an unknown bird (a pheasant or quail or something like that!), a little snake and a frog..oh yeah, Kevin, Brooke and Keturah too!

Red-tailed Hawk
Yesterday, coming home from the farm, Keturah noticed this hawk sitting in a tree fairly close to the road. I put on my telephoto lens and snapped a couple of shots from the car...I attempted to quietly get out of the car, but with his excellent hearing, he heard me and took off flying farther away...We do see these hawks all the time around this area, but not usually this close to the road.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

A Gorgeous, Gentle Giant...
Here are a few shots of Jerome, the draft horse from the farm last week. He seemed to be posing for me! He's a such a big, scary guy, but he has such a gentle, sweet personality, I'm not scared of him at all (now)!! The last pic is a bit washed out from the bright sun, but this was the best full shot I got of him (he's hard to fit into one shot!)

The Fall Colours of Bancroft
October 13, 2008
Awesome Algonquin!
Yep, I have to admit, I enjoyed my time in Algonquin Park...The photo opportunities for scenic, fall shots were awesome. We stayed overnight in Bancroft and they have wonderful fall colours there too, as well as the drive up there.
We left early on Sunday to head up to Algonquin and it was about a 45 min drive from Bancroft. We went to 4 different trails along the Hwy 60 corridor, those being the Logging Museum Trail, Beaver Pond Trail, Spruce Bog Boardwalk and Peck Lake Trail. We put about 7kms on our runners! We'd probably have done more, but by afternoon, the trails were getting so busy, it was crazy! But, what we did do, was great---the weather was awesome too--started out at 2 degrees and went up to about 22 by the afternoon.
We also drove from one end of the park to the other. We stopped at the visitor centre as they have a museum, cafeteria and lookout there. We also stopped at Opeongo Lake, as that is where all the Moose sightings were and yep, you guessed it, we didn't see ANY moose. We barely saw any wildlife at all actually...a couple of birds, a couple of snakes and a couple of frogs. Probably because it was quite busy!
I'm already planning to go back next year! Here are the shots for today!
1st pic: Logging Museum Trail (love the tree's reflection)
2nd pic: Brewer Lake Lookout
3rd pic: Beaver Pond Trail
4th pic: Beaver Pond Trail
5th pic: Algonquin Park Visitor Centre-lookout
6th pic: Peck Lake Trail
7th pic: Peck Lake Trail-fall leaves
More pics to come!!! Enjoy!

A Few Fall Pics...
Here are some pictures I took on Sunday. I had volunteered for a research project and had to take some pictures on the Tyendinaga Territory. So, while I was taking those pictures, I managed to take a few fall shots.
These were all taken at the Salmon River on the Territory...It was a beautiful spot. I haven't seen too many colourful trees as yet...We only have pine trees in our yard and I think those are best shot with snow on them!
On a good note, we are heading up to Algonquin Park on Sat and Sun to go hiking and take some pictures...so, I'm hoping to get some really good "fall" shots there.
I may not be able to post until Monday, so I wish all my readers (all 3 of you!) a VERY Happy Thanksgiving!

Here's a Cutie Pie...
Here's a very cute and very friendly foal that we saw at the apple picking farm last Sunday. I love his face...it's very unique. Here he is eating grass, then he is walking over to say hi and then a picture of him with his mom...
I love shooting horses...there is just something about them... maybe because they are so inquisitive and seem to want their picture taken or at least spend time with you (and your snacks of course!) and then you get to catch their personalities in the shots too!

An apple a day...
keeps the doctor away---well, let's hope so anyway!
Here are some pics of the girls at our apple-picking adventure on Sunday. Guess what else we saw there? Yep, more horses! I will add those sometime soon too, because they are so darn cute!!
Here is Brooke lugging the basket of apples around, Keturah climbing up the ladder to get the good ones and both girls comparing their "big" apples.
Enjoy!
