Scenes from Grand Manan

Welcome back!

This week I'm including some scenic shots of places around Grand Manan.

1st -4th shots-taken while we played on the beach. I can never remember the name of this beach..its just along the road and is kind of hidden by bushes! The 3rd shot shows some steam rising from the sand..pretty cool!

5th-7th shots were taken from the fishing wharf. Yes, the sky and water are REALLY that colour! I shot these while we were fishing for mackerel. We only had 3 fishing poles, so we had to take turns!

Next week, I'll be adding photos from the rest of our trip-----when we stopped in the USA at the Strawberry Banke Museum...they had an awesome garden!

Well, I had a busy week working in Oneida. It  didn't help that I got sick on the Monday and am still trying to get rid of it...made teaching interesting when I couldn't stop coughing some days!

I also had an interesting and VERY long drive home on Friday night. I took the back roads to avoid the pileup and subsequent closure of the 401 and ended up getting home at 11pm. I was pretty wiped and still am..I hope I can sleep better tonight without all that coughing..

Scenes from the Southwest Lighthouse

Welcome Back!

This week I'm including Scenic or Landscape photos from the Southwest Lighthouse area. It has to have the BEST view on Grand Manan Island! I love coming here to shoot photos. We didn't do as much hiking here as we have done in the past...thanks to a sulky teenager who wanted to remain in the van! :-)

As you can see it was a beautiful day here and that we were way up high! :-)

Anyway, I'm off to Oneida again tomorrow...this time for the whole week! I'm staying at a different hotel, so I hope things go well there...It's a Best Western too, so I hope it is the same quality as the Lamplighter Inn!

Thanks for visiting! Have a great week!

Hiking at Anchorage Provincial Park

Welcome Back!

This week I've included some shots from our hike at the Anchorage Provincial Park on Grand Manan Island. Every time we've been here, we've seen at least 1 eagle and this trip didn't disappoint. I just wish I had a longer lens to get closer shots!

1st-3rd pics- Lone eagle looking for critters from a tree
4th pic- A cool flowery-shaped mushroom
5th pic- Pitcher Plant Flower
6th pic- Pitcher Plant-A carnivorous plant-it eats bugs!
7th pic- Sundew Plant-also carnivorous-can you see it's sticky tentacles where the bugs get caught?

Not much new this week..had a last minute trip to Rama and still fighting this cough! This week I'm getting ready to go to Oneida-leave next Sunday for the whole week again! :-O

Have a great week!

January 5, 2013

Well, I think I've used that title before! My favourite subject to shoot is wildlife and "critters" in general. Sometimes even human ones!

These photos are all of critters we met, found, etc. on the beach, namely Red Point Beach on Grand Manan Island in August.

1st Photo-Keturah holding up a green crab
2nd Photo-a very small starfish
3rd Photo-another green crab
4th Photo-another crab (not sure what kind it is..could still be a green one, even though its not green)
5th Photo-a juvenile rock eel (he's in our purple bucket for his closeup)
6th Photo-the family introducing two green crabs or trying to get them to rumble
7th Photo-another odd coloured crab
8th-10th Photos-more green crabs

Well, back to work on Monday :-(   I can't believe how fast my time off went. But doesn't it always!
