Babies!

Last night we went for a hike around the Napanee River and saw the baby geese! We have seen them by the water on the way to work, but they are far away and I don't take my camera to work with me, so we couldn't get shots of them until last night.

There were 7 families of geese with a total of 36 goslings (that I could count). They were various ages/sizes too and each family had a mother and father too...no single parents!!lol

They stuck around while we were feeding them some bread. It was cute because the parents would push the bread towards their babies or push the baby over toward the bread.

We also saw the heron again, but it seems like I got the same head shots/body shots of him as I did last week...I did get him catching a fish, so I'll try to add that this week.

He's Back!!!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, it's been a very busy week. Brooke started soccer on Wed night, Tuesday night is piano lessons, Thursday night we went to a birthday party for our cousin (happy 4th birthday Emma!) and Friday I went to the Digital Imaging Show in Toronto with my friend, Melissa. My allergies have been bothering me big time all week too, so I had a 2 hour nap this afternoon after riding lessons!

I was kind of lazy to cook supper, so we went and bought pizza slices and ate at the park and we noticed that the Heron was back!!! We actually saw two of them, one bigger than the other...Here are a few shots of the 300 or so that I took:

They Do Exist!!!

We headed up once again to Algonquin Park on the weekend to look for the ever-elusive moose. I was beginning to think they didn't exist, until this weekend that is! We left Friday afternoon and got home this afternoon, so we are all pretty tired out!!

We stayed in Minden at the cottage resort where we stayed on the march break. We had a 2 storey cottage this time and lots more room too! The only downside of the weekend was the weather, it was rainy and cold on Saturday and on Sunday, it was cold and snowy (light) at times!

We drove through Algonquin park on Saturday and didn't do any hiking because it was raining off and on, but we did manage to see 2 moose that day...I guess they didn't mind the rain!

On Sunday we planned to go back after lunch and do some hiking and despite the snow and cold temps, we did! We hiked the Spruce Bog Trail and the Lookout Trail. The spruce bog is a very easy trail, but the lookout one, was rated as difficult, because the first 1/2 is up-hill. We made it though! It was actually a nice day for hiking, not too hot, not too cold and NO bugs!

We were on our way out of the park when we saw two more moose!!! I jumped out of the van for the one who was eating/drinking along side the road...so, I was probably 25 feet away from him, maybe. Lots of people stopped to see and take his picture. He didn't seem to mind and stuck around for about 10mins or so and I've included 3 of the pictures of him below.

I am so excited to finally get shots of this elusive creature...I guess now, I know what time of year to go if I need more moose pictures!!!

Now, what should my next challenge be? We are planning to go back to Taddoussac, Quebec in July for a holiday and go whale-watching, so maybe getting a good beluga shot will be my next challenge!

Enjoy!

More shots from the farm....

Here are some of my favourite shots taken at the farm the last couple of weeks:

1st-a close up of Nikki (Keturah's steed)

2nd-a really close up of Skyler's Eye (artistic shot)

3rd-Coco and Zeus (I like their contrasting colours)

4th-Scotch the kitty (I like that he's in the shadows)

Adorable Donkeys!

At the farm today, we were greeted by all the donkeys...there were about 20 of them wandering around and laying around. Here are some who came over to say "hi". I didn't dare feed them any carrots as I didn't want to get mobbed! (I did give them about 1/2 bag of carrots as I was leaving)

Keturah had a good day riding and everyone stayed on their horses! The rain held off until we were done too, which was a good thing!

Jumping Fun!

I had a request from an anonymous reader, who would like to see some "jumping" pics, so here are some of Keturah and Nikki, which were taken the last couple of weeks during her lessons. In the first picture, you can see the new arena, which will have an big indoor riding ring as well as some stalls for the horses and a parent-watching area too! It will be awesome in the winter! The last picture is that of Keturah and Nikki after class, with Nikki's new halter and rope, that Keturah bought for her!

A New Addition at the Farm!

Here are pictures of Declan, who was born last Friday night (24th) to Freyja, who is a gorgeous belgian horse who boards at Raspberry Ridge Farms.

The first two shots were taken last Saturday, when Declan was less than a day old and the rest were taken today! He is a gorgeous little boy, who is very active and playful, but is very cautious around people and sticks close to his mom, Freyja.

On another note, I'd like to thank everyone for checking out my blog. As of April 28th, my blog has been active for 1 year already! Time flies when you're having fun!

Thanks for visiting!
