More Pelicans!

Welcome Back!

Sorry for the posting issue last week! I noticed that the pelican post didn't get published on Monday, so I published that on Friday along with the penguin post! Two posts in one day! I've been having issues with Blogger...really hoping I don't have to change to WordPress! I'll give it another chance! :-)

Today I'm highlighting the last of the good pelican photos I got at the Zoo. These are again the Pink-Backed Pelicans found in the African Savanna! Seeing these guys make me want to go to Myrtle Beach and see the Brown ones in the wild! I guess I'll have to wait until March Break!

Well, I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was rather quiet as I wasn't feeling the greatest, but managed a nice visit with my Uncle in Westlake and some shopping with my daughter! This week should be relatively quiet! Hopefully get back to my walking (dragging) schedule with my doggie! :-)

More soon!

Pink-backed Pelicans!

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some pink-backed pelicans. These guys are found in with the penguins in the African Savanna. They are much lighter in colour than the ones in Myrtle Beach---the Brown Pelicans.

Because I have a "few" shots of the pelicans and penguins, I thought I'd alternate them when posting, so you don't get bored!

Well, the weekend was good. 4 of my crafty friends and I had a great time at Scrapfest and enjoyed a nice Chinese food buffet on the way home.

This week I have the usual Volleyball (tonight) and then my cute niece Jaeden is spending Tuesday and Thursday with me..should be fun!

More later this week!

African Penguins

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some African Penguin shots. These cuties are found in the African Savanna at the Toronto Zoo and are in the same enclosure as the Pelicans, which I highlighted last time and which I'll highlight again next week!

Well, this week has gone by surprisingly fast. I babysat my neice, Jaeden for a couple of days and she certainly kept me busy. I also had to move my Uncle to a nursing home in the county--I think he likes it so far, I just wish it wasn't so far away! :-(   I also managed to catch another stupid cold, but this one wasn't as bad--thank goodness!

No plans for the weekend, other than a visit to my Uncle, maybe a movie and some SLEEP (wishful thinking!).

Have a great weekend!

The Masai Giraffe, Pt. 2

Welcome Back!

This week I have a few more of my favourite Giraffe photos. Next week I'll be highlighting the penguins and pelicans! Yes, they have pelicans at the zoo now!

Well, I'm so glad it's Friday and my appointments for this week are done (I think!)
I haven't been home much this week and have missed my lazy routine and am having withdrawal from not watching any Criminal Minds episodes! I usually watch at LEAST one or two per day, but not this week!

Tomorrow I'm off to Oshawa for Scrapfest with my sister and some friends..Should be fun and something we wait all year for!

Have a great weekend!

The Masai Giraffe

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting the Giraffe, or to be exact the Masai Giraffe. This fellow was alone in his enclosure and is also found in the African Savanna.

We had to stay for awhile to get a variety of shots as he wasn't very entertaining..just snacking on the grass!

Next time, I'll have a few more photos of the giraffe...I couldn't add them all today, as I can't add more than 8 to each blog post or my computer starts misbehaving! :-)

Well, we had a great weekend, but it went by way too fast! We got in late last night from Waterloo, so my butt is dragging today. Was trying to have a nap this morning but a stupid fly kept waking me up, so now I'm trying this big cup of coffee!

This is the week for appointments...4 nursing home tours for my Uncle over the in county, along with my usual visits with him at the hospital, one with my career counsellor, one for car maintenance and maybe a coffee with my friend, Paul!

More soon...

White Lions, Part 2

Welcome Back!

Today I'm highlighting the rest of my White Lion shots. Sorry if the pose looks repetitive. It is..I just liked the photos for the facial expressions, etc.! There are three white lions, but we only managed to see two. But I think they resemble each other anyway!

Next time I shall highlight the giraffe!

Well, I can't believe it is Thanksgiving weekend already! Time sure flies! Brooke will be home tomorrow on the train. She had a late class (lab) tonight, so couldn't get a train home and I didn't relish driving home at 1-2am, but I would have! We are having two turkey dinners this weekend with the respective families. Tiring, but the food and company will be good! Driving Brooke home on Monday and then the weekend will be over! SIGH...

Enjoy your weekend and Happy Thanksgiving!

White Lions

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting the White Lions, who are permanently back on display and are found in the African Savanna.

Here's a blurb from the Toronto Zoo Website:

"Toronto Zoo introduces three new white lions, which will be on exhibit in a variety of combinations, as a permanent addition to our African Savanna family.

Unique to the Timbavati region of South Africa, these rare and beautiful cats have not been seen in the wild in over 15 years. They carry the recessive gene known as a colour inhibitor of the Kruger subspecies of lion (Panterha leo krugeri). With lion populations dwindling, they are now classified as a vulnerable species. "

I really could use a better lens when shooting some animals at the zoo. Like these ones, they were at the back of their enclosure behind trees and big rocks! Maybe Santa will be generous this year!

Anyway, we had a good weekend despite the yucky weather. We headed to Campbellford for our usual stops: lunch, craft store, bakery, cheese factory and chocolate factory! Lots of goodies!

Keturah has a couple of appointments this week and will be writing her G1 Driving Test! Yikes! I have to go through this AGAIN! :-)

More white lions later this week!
