Black Crowned Night Heron

Here are some cute birds. They are night herons and are nocturnal, so were kind of quiet, just sitting around..made for some good shots though! We saw these little guys at the Brookgreen Gardens in Myrtle Beach. It's a pretty cool place to visit. We went on a boat cruise and saw alligators basking on the shore, as well as visited the zoo area, where there were unobstructed views of the animals/birds (no glass or fencing for most of them) as well as beautiful gardens to walk through with lots of sculptures from various artists AND it was a beautiful day that day too!

Fishin in Myrtle Beach

No, we didn't actually go fishing in Myrtle Beach, but we saw a lot of cool fish at Ripley's Aquarium there. I can't remember all the names, but the second one is a puffer fish (who really liked my camera flash and was posing for me) and the fourth picture is of a jellyfish. We really enjoyed visiting the aquarium and I took about 300 pictures there! Here are some of the better ones...remember, these are shot through glass!!

We're on our way...

home!!! We're currently in Hagerstown, MD and will likely be home sometime tomorrow night...Had a great holiday, but it sure is a LONG drive! Anyway, I wanted to post a few pictures as I had a couple of minutes to myself and actually had use of MY laptop for a change! Hee Hee.
Here are a couple of goofy pictures we took while walking along the boardwalks. Keturah took the first one of Kevin and me and I took the second one of Kevin and Keturah.
See you all soon!

Myrtle Beach Pelicans!

And I don't mean the baseball team...yep, before we left, when I googled "pelicans, myrtle beach", it came up with the baseball team and as a wildlife photographer, it was definitely not what I was looking for!!

I was so excited when we found these cute little guys guys on Tuesday when we stopped at Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk. They were all hanging out along the boardwalk and I got lots of pictures...here are my favourite four!

I can't believe our holiday is almost over...we have to leave tomorrow and today it's a bit cloudy and rainy, so we are wondering what to do..maybe shopping as it's indoor!

Greetings from Myrtle Beach!

Well, after 2 long days of driving, we made it to Myrtle Beach finally. It was well worth the drive, as it has been beautiful and warm (17 degrees)....As you can see from the pictures below, its very pretty here this time of year! We've been busy doing some touristry stuff, like Ripley's Aquarium and Barefoot Landing Boardwalk and shopping yesterday and today, we went to Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk and walking on the beach too! Not sure what's planned for tomorrow!

We are staying at Monterey Bay Resort Suites. Its a very nice hotel (except for the breakfast!). WE are on the 15th floor and have two balconies to enjoy the view of the ocean. The 3rd picture below was taken this morning about 7:30am as the sun came up. Yes I was up that early!!! The hotel also boast 3 heated pools, 3 hot tubs and a lazy river, where the kids have spent lots of time floating around on the inner tubes.

Well, I'll keep this short has it's getting late!!! Here are some pictures of the girls and scenery at MB. Keturah on the beach, Brooke outside Ripley's Aquarium under the palm trees and as mentioned, the scene from our balcony this morning.

The Cat's Meow...

or Roar! Here are the same cats as the last post, but you'll notice they aren't yawning in these pictures! As mentioned, these were all shot at the Toronto Zoo on our photo excursion last week. This will be my last post until next week sometime, as we are heading to Myrtle Beach for the March Break. I will try to post some pictures if I can shoot anything of interest

Open Wide

Here are some shots of the Big Cats taken at the Toronto Zoo, when my friend Melissa and I went yesterday. Our sole reason for going was to practice our photography and try to get some good shots. I think we did.

All the cats seemed very lazy as they were laying around on an awesome sunny day, but we caught them all yawning in these pictures below. Some of them do look quite scary, showing off their teeth, but they weren't, they were just caught in a "yawn".

I'll add some normal shots of them next time!

Here are a: snow leopard, caracal lynx, cheetah, female lion, male lion and an amur tiger.
