Happy Holidays!

Just a short post to wish all the visitors to my site a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too! I hope you will come back to visit in the new year, as I will have lots of new pictures from our trip to Niagara Falls and I also hope to go to the Zoo over the holidays too!

3rd-Sunny
4th & 5th-I don't know their names! They just looked like they wanted me to take their picture!

For the Birds!

Yep, this post is for the birds! Or for the bird lovers at least! Here are some pictures shot in Nov 2009. I haven't taken any good pictures lately, other than horses, so I went back into the archives for these ones! They were all shot on Amherst Island last year.

1st-chickadee sitting on Kevin's hand
2nd & 3rd-two shots of the same woodpecker. I wasn't sure which I liked better, so included both
4th-a nuthatch getting a seed from the feeder

Myrtle Beach Memories....

You can tell when the weather starts getting bad, I start wishing I was someplace sunny! Well, here are some shots from when we were in Myrtle Beach. I didn't get to add all the ones I wanted back then, so will add some you  haven't seen yet.

I have not been anywhere to shoot any recent pictures. Keturah hasn't been riding due to the coach's holidays, so my camera has been getting a break lately! I've been sick too with that stupid cold that's going around!

Anyway, here are some shots from Brookgreen Gardens, Myrtle Beach, USA!

1st-Kevin and Keturah under a big ugly tree
2nd-Turtles
3rd-Keturah in an archway
4th-Brooke and Kevin by the palm trees

Headshots

Here are some horse headshots... Keturah and I went to the Royal Winter Fair on Friday, which was pretty cool once again. That reminded me that I should add some new horse shots AND I should update my blog too! I didn't take my camera to the Fair, as I didn't think they were allowed in the Show and then I also didn't want to carry it around for 8 hours as it's way too heavy!
So, for this week, I'm including some horse shots from Wolfden Farms that were taken over the last month!
1st Shot-Sunny, the horse Keturah is currently riding
2nd Shot-Missy
3rd Shot-Sadie
4th&5th Shots-Not exactly sure of the names for these ones!
Enjoy!

Our Newest Family Member!

Yep, here is the newest member of the Maracle Family! He is as yet un-named...any suggestions? He's a skinny pig! (A hairless guinea pig) Keturah bought this little guy on the weekend and he is just so cute...you may not think so looking at him, but he is way cuter in person! haha He may need a sweater or coat to live at our house as it is usually cool in the winter, but none of us know how to knit! Oh Oh!

Anyway, on another note, I have finished my portrait photography course. I have to admit it was quite boring and not all that informative, as I've learned most of the information in another course I took last year! Oh well, I didn't need all that spare time anyway right? :-)

Anyway here is the un-named skinny pig (my suggestion was fluffy!)

3rd Pic- Seal Cove Harbour (this was near our cottage---I love the reflections!)
4th Pic-Another cove, a part of the town and a salmon farm in the foreground

Ahoy Mateys!

Sorry for not posting in so long....I have lots of excuses! :-) I was sick for a couple of days with a bad head cold, working on my Christmas cards, going to card classes and taking another photography course..this one on Portrait Photography...not my favourite subject to shoot, so I need all the help I can get!

Keturah didn't ride last weekend, so I don't have any recent pics that I'm happy with, so I went to my holiday files for these ones...One thing that reminds me of down east, besides lighthouses is fishing boats! Here are some random pictures of fishing boats from Grand Manan Harbour.

A Hiking We Will Go...

Yep, we went hiking on Sunday since it was such a beautiful day. Brooke's friend, Keegan came along with us too as we hiked through Lemoine's Point in Kingston! We saw the usual critters there, including the pictures below:

Grand Manan Sunsets

Sorry for not posting for over a week AGAIN! Same excuse...too tired through the week and too lazy on the weekend! :-)

Here are some sunset pictures I took while visiting Grand Manan. These were all taken on the same night at various times throughout the evening. The lighthouse in the second photo is called the Long Eddy Lighthouse or "Whistle Lighthouse" for short. It was the best place to get sunset shots apparently!

Enjoy!

Maine Wildlife

Sorry for not posting in so long...I've been super busy at work preparing for the new school year and so didn't even want to look at my laptop when I got home! HAHA Anyway, have some downtime this morning, so I am updating finally!! Here are some pictures of wildlife we saw while visiting Bar Habor, Maine. We saw most of these critters while cruising on the Sea Princess, which was a nice quiet boat cruise through some of the islands and harbors of Maine. The pictures are kind of dreary-looking and that is because it was an overcast day and was actually raining just before we got on the boat. They cruise rain or shine and the boat had a canopy to protect us and they handed out blankets to keep warm!

1st Pic-Seal---seen in the harbour before we got on the boat
2nd Pic-a Loon-saw this little guy/gal out in the water while on the cruise (they blend in well with the water)
3rd Pic-an Osprey-saw this guy out on a navigational beacon where he/she built their nest
4th Pic-a Cormorant-saw this one in the harbour area as well..He was shaking the water off his feathers
5th Pic-Maracle Girls-saw these on the dock before we got on the boat...they were goofing around for the camera!

Enjoy!

This 'n That from Grand Manan

Here are some photos from around Grand Manan taken over the last few days. We have enjoyed beachcombing, visiting the lighthouses and watching for whales! We did see some from the shore yesterday along with some porpoises. Didn't get any close pictures because they are too fast! Kevin bought a metal detector and has been "detecting" along all the beaches...found a loonie and some metallic rocks so far! Whoo Hoo!

The weather turned hot and sunny yesterday and looks to stay that way the rest of our visit. We will be sadly leaving on Saturday and will be stopping in Bar Harbour, Maine on the way home (I think)!

1st pic-a bee on a thistle
2nd pic-a seagull eating a crab (no surprise the gulls are so big here!)
3rd pic-Brooke holding up a snail, who wanted to get away!
4th pic-a pretty butterfly

More Photos from Grand Manan!

That might be my title for the next few posts! I've been getting up early every morning to copy and back up my photos from the day before, during a cup of coffee and before every wants to hit the road (beach)!

Yesterday it was foggy in the morning and then a bit rainy and very chilly (16 degrees) and today looks like the same thing with the rest of the week, looking pretty good!

Now, on to the photos:

1st-taken at Southwest Head Lighthouse...we walked for a good 2-3 kilometers on Sunday night to see this vista and it was worth it!
2nd-taken at the same place, but closer to the parking lot! It was a beautiful sunset!
3rd-a snail leaving a trail--taken along the beach---Seal Cove, which is very near to this cottage (yesterday)
4th--an eagle (we saw two of them!) This was taken along the Anchorage beach yesterday, which was a short drive away
