Alligator Adventure: Birds & Tortoises

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some non-alligator critters found at Alligator Adventure! The first four photos are of the Sarus Crane. He's very pretty with his red plumage and red eye!

The next two photos are of the Spur Thigh Tortoise. He isn't too big, compared to the ones near the exit, which I'll highlight another day!

The last two photos are of the Macaws. These guys were not cooperating for photos even though I stood there for ages waiting for them to turn around! :-)

Well, this week has been crazy and I'm so out of my routine! I must get to the gym today, as I haven't been all week due to weather and whatnot! Keturah was off yesterday and so we headed to Kingston to shop for her semi-formal dress. We had a great day until we headed home and ended up in the ditch in a big snowbank! (Keturah was driving on a snow-covered road!) Anyway, we were okay, just a bit shook up! I was surprised by how many people stopped to see if we were okay--my faith in humanity is restored! We had a very nice policeman who waited with us until the tow truck came. Thanks also to my brother-in-law, Les who hooked us up with the towing service! No damage to my car either! Whew!

Anyway, more snow this weekend!! SIGH. We were hoping to go to Waterloo to take Brooke out for dinner for her birthday, but I guess we probably won't unless we go on Sunday, but we'll have to see what the weather will be like...Don't want to end up in the ditch again! :-)

Have a great weekend!

Alligator Adventures - Pt. 3

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting more of the alligator shots from Alligator Adventure in Myrtle Beach. There are hundreds, if not a thousand of these guys in various shapes and sizes. So, as I mentioned before, a great place to visit with a lot to look at. Yep, I'm usually way behind my family when we are here as I'm happy to stay in one spot and wait for them to move or look a certain way or get out of the water! Lots of fun!

This week is pretty quiet so far. Yesterday was a snow day, so I had Keturah and Kevin home. Keturah is writing exams this week and had her last one yesterday which is now taking place tomorrow. My routine is definitely mixed up this week! I didn't even get my weekly groceries until today due to ALL that snow that we got on the weekend! I love winter, but even I cringe when I hear there's more snow coming, or snow squalls (like today)! I just don't like to be house-bound every weekend--but I still love winter! Hopefully I will get over to visit my Uncle tomorrow, as I haven't seen him in two weeks!

More later this week!!

Alligator Adventures---No alligators this time!

Welcome back!

This time I'm highlighting some non-alligator critters from Alligator Adventures. I think I have as many photos of these as I do the alligators. It really is a great place to visit and yes, I'll likely go back again this year! :-)

1st-3rd photos- Ring-tailed Lemur
4th-6th photos-Marmosets
7th photos- Egyptian Fruit Bats

These were all very hard to shoot and I had to adjust the exposure on all of them as they were taken in a very dark building, with flash and through glass...wow...challenges! Anyway, I was glad they turned out as good as they did!

Well, I had a great afternoon of crafting with my friend, LaurieAnn yesterday..it had been too long! I found out that my car isn't dying on me just yet, but they don't know what that burning plastic smell is...maybe the shield (?) and I went to a CoreFit class that worked muscles that I didn't know I had, so I'm recovering today-no gym for me today! :-D

Have a GREAT weekend!

Alligator Adventure

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some alligators. These were taken on March Break last year, in Myrtle Beach at a place called Alligator Adventures. This was our third time visiting there..Its a very cool place to visit!

They have many different types of alligators from all over the world. Unfortunately, I didn't keep track of all their names or where they are from, so I'm just calling them all alligators. I didn't know there were this many different kinds with very different characteristics! I'll try to include different shots each week. I do have to warn you that I have tons of them! I will break it up with photos of other animals. They have birds, reptiles and a few monkey-type critters, so that's what I'll be highlighting over the next few weeks!

These photos are all shots of the American Alligator, from various sections in the zoo.

Well, this week was supposed to be a quiet one, but now I have a couple of appointments lined up for my car and for my uncle, along with my visits to the gym, homework for my course and job hunting!

More later this week...

Lemoine's Point, Pt.2

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting the last of the photos I took at Lemoine's Point in Kingston. These include my favourite local bird, the nuthatch. They are so comical to watch. They really check us out before they will come over and land on your hand (Kevin's in these pictures---mine aren't that hairy!) They also come down the tree very funny, circling the tree as they do, so we think they are gone, but really, they are just on the back on the tree! They also look like they are folded in half on the tree as well, but they got to keep an eye on us I guess!

The last photo is one of a very cautious deer, who didn't want to come too close! Which is good as it is a wild animal and should stay that way, as much as we'd love to pet it, etc.

Next time I think I will post some alligator photos from Myrtle Beach (last March) that I took and noticed that I never highlighted. It's almost time to head back to MB, so I best get these posted!

Well, I've been busy the last couple of days sweating at the gym and I also signed up for a couple of online courses--one craft-related (Cricut Craftroom) and one work-related, which is an Introduction to CSS and HTML5..Lots of reading and assignments --6 weeks long..I'm excited, but I hope I can survive it! :-)

Have a GREAT weekend!

Scenes from Lemoine's Point!

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some shots I took while at Lemoine's Point Conservation Area in Kingston. This is probably our favourite place to go hiking...It takes us about 1.5-2hrs to go through the trail, but we often stop to feed the critters and of course, to take photos! I'm usually lugging 40lbs of camera equipment with me, so I'm usually way behind the family!

This time I'm including some photos of flowers and/or scenery..I don't usually add a lot of these as my favourite subject is wildlife, but I liked these photos and thought we needed some brightness, after the dreary rain we've been having here in Ontario!

I debated including the caterpillar and it took everything in me for me to add it...I HATE these things--even more than snakes! Yicky! Lucky for it, it's colourful!

Well, this week has been quiet..I've been feeling kind of crappy since Saturday...headache, plugged ears and sinuses....The Tylenol Cold/Flu that I take also upsets my stomach..lucky me! So, I've been taking it easy and trying not to take anything!

Later this week I'll have a few more shots from Lemoine's Point, including a deer and some birds! We always find a variety of critters there!

After that, I'm not sure what I'll include..maybe it's time to get out and shoot something new...A trip to Amherst Island may be in order!

The Last of the Ducks & Geese!

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting the last of the photos from our visit to this park. The first two photos are of the baby geese with their parents. The last few photos are of the ducks. We were feeding them our seeds, so they stayed quite close to us!

Next week I'll include some photos from Lemoine's Point where we went after this stop along the water!

Well, this week has been interesting and productive! I hibernated pretty much all day Monday and Tuesday due to the weather. I managed to fall down on the ice, got my car stuck on the ice in the driveway, drove from Westlake in a snowstorm and headed back to the gym! I also moved around a bunch of furniture and boxes of books yesterday and put together a bookcase today! My back is very sore and I'm ready for a nap! On the good side, I have been sleeping very well this week! :-)

Having some lunch today with the hubby and hitting the gym afterwards, but no plans for the weekend, other than visiting my Uncle in Westlake (weather permitting)!

Have a great weekend!
