Giant Pandas, Pt. 4

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting photos of the female Giant Panda who is called Er Shun. She was eating pretty much the whole time we were photographing her. These are not the best photos I've taken but very hard in a darkened exhibit and through glass! SIGH! Her face and expressions are so cute in these shots...

I'll have some birds or flamingos next time!

Wow, hard to believe it is Friday already! Time flies when you're having fun right? Well, Keturah's dental surgery went well, however her recovery has been long..she's still off school...hopefully she'll be back on Monday!

Not much planned for the weekend..which is okay by me! Maybe some sleeping in? :-) Tonight I'm off to a card-making class, so I am looking forward to that! It's been awhile since I attended an actual class, but I do take a few online classes!

 Have a great weekend!

Giant Pandas, Pt. 3

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting the male Giant Panda again. I think these are the last of them (for the male.) Next time I'll have some of the female Giant Panda! Sorry if some of these photos look repetitive, I liked the look of his facial expression, etc, so included it! When he is showing his teeth in the one photo, he was not growling, I just caught him at the end of a yawn!

Well, I was happy to finally see some snow on Saturday. Unfortunately it didn't stick around very long! The weekend went by too fast again, but I got some Christmas shopping done, Keturah's boyfriend came over for dinner and a visit, I made some greeting cards and visited my uncle at Westlake Terrace!

This week, Keturah is having her wisdom teeth out..tomorrow morning to be exact and she will have to take it easy for 2-3 days, so I will have to be her nurse for a day or two! :-)

More later this week...

Giant Pandas, Pt. 2

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting more Giant Panda photos. I think this is the male one again (that's what we were told the day we were there). The female was in the inside enclosure and I have some photos of her too!

Did you know that:

"In the wild, a giant panda's diet is 99% bamboo. The other 1% consists of other grasses/herbs and occasionally small prey animals. At the Toronto Zoo, the giant pandas will be fed a diet that consists of fresh bamboo, leaf eater biscuits, apples, and occasionally sugar cane or icicles as a treat. Fresh bamboo will be 80 - 90% of the giant panda's diet and they will be offered between 42 to 64 kilograms (93 to 141 pounds) of bamboo each day. " (Torontozoo.com)

That's a lot of bamboo!

This week has been busy and I had my last meeting with my Career Counsellor so now I am ready to take on the world! Ok, maybe find a job? :-)

Have a great weekend!

The Giant Pandas

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting the Giant Pandas. The Toronto Zoo has a nice Interpretive Centre that they force you to walk through with activities and information booths to get to the Pandas, but we practically ran through it as we were so excited to see the Pandas! I'll have to check it out the next time I go! :-)

We went to the outdoor viewing section first and saw this guy...We were told he was the male, but it's hard to tell them apart! So if he is indeed the male, his name is Da Mao! I also expected them to be kind of lazy, but this one was quite active-- moving around, resting and of course eating lots of bamboo.

I have LOTS more photos to highlight in the coming weeks!

Well, its Wednesday already...where does the time go? I had a sick kid home again yesterday. On Monday I started going to the gym (yep, me, who hates exercising) but it isn't that bad..the hardest part was getting started as I had wanted to go back when I was first off work, but it's taken me this long to get there! :-) I'm also still playing volleyball on Monday nights and am glad that our late games are now over for a few weeks...it's rough playing 9-10pm...I'm usually getting ready for bed at that time! :-)

Anyway, I hope to be back on Friday with another post of Giant Panda photos...Did you happen to see Rick Mercer last night, he was visiting them at the Toronto Zoo..It was pretty cool!

More soon!

Australasia Outdoor Exhibit

Welcome Back!

This week I have photos from the Australasia Outdoor Exhibit at the Toronto Zoo. These include the Emu and the Western Grey Kangaroo.  The Emu was curious as to what we were doing and came right over but the kangaroos were actually quite quiet this time..usually they are hopping around!

Well, I haven't gotten the cold that has plagued my daughter..thank goodness..she was home two days this week with it! I have had a headache most days this week though...:-( I did manage to get over to my friends house for a day full of crafting yesterday...Just what I needed..some Christmas cards completed and a long-overdue visit!

I will be highlighting the Panda photos next! Just a warning: I do have quite a few!

Have a great weekend!

For The Birds!

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some birds we saw at the zoo. All but the last two were wild animals versus zoo animals. I didn't have enough Owl shots to highlight them on their own. This guy was alone in his cage and has a problem with his eye, which is why he is squinting up at the sun...his good eye was very sensitive to the sun...poor guy!

1st photo-a duck (not sure what kind)
2nd & 3rd-a cormorant
4th&5th-a gosling
6th&7th-a Snowy Owl

Today I have sick kid at home..I hope she isn't off school for very long and that I don't get it...The last cold I had hung around way too long! She was suppose to have her wisdom teeth removed this week, but with her cold, they don't recommend it, so we put that off for a couple of weeks! Should now be a quiet week with the dog and myself getting haircuts...guess which one costs more! Yep, the dog's! :-)

More later this week!

Polar Bears, Pt. 2

Welcome Back!

This time I have the last of the Polar Bear photos. The last 2 are my favourites! Next time I'll highlight the Snowy Owl, also from the Tundra Trek.

Well, I can't believe it is Friday already...I can't believe I used to get up and out the door by 7:45am! I've had to get up and out early 3 times this week and it's tiring when you are not used to it! Yesterday I went to Campbellford for a Christmas Card Class and it was quite enjoyable..however, it was suppose to be 2 hours and ended up being 4 hours, so I didn't get lunch til after 2! Next time I'll be sure to take a sandwich with me! :-) I am also working on Christmas cards here too!

Have a great weekend!
