The "Kids" at Wacatee Zoo

The "kids" I am referring to are baby goats. These were taken at the Wacatee Zoo in Myrtle Beach in March. I'm not a big fan of goats for some reason...I think they are the "bully" of the animal world as they are always pushing others out of the way and head butting each other, but even I couldn't resist these cute babies!

Well, guess what? It's almost time for our summer vacation! Yeah! We are leaving on Thursday to head to Grand Manan Island in New Brunswick..probably my idea of the happiest place on earth! Well, at least in the summer--no mosquitos, no snakes and no overbearing humidity! When can I move there? :-) We plan to stop in Quebec City and maybe St. Andrews on the way there and perhaps Salem, MA on the way home!

This will be our 3rd visit to the island and we are looking forward to walking the beaches, relaxing and enjoying the spectacular sunsets, not to mention all the fresh fish and seafood! Unfortunately, I don't believe we will have WI-FI at the cottage where we are staying, so I won't be able update for a couple of weeks! But I will likely add some photos via Facebook!

Have a great couple of weeks!

Pretty as a Peacock

Welcome back! This week I've included various poses of some peacocks. These were taken at the Wacatee Zoo, in Myrtle Beach during the March Break. They are the first critter you seen as you drive up the driveway..they are milling about to greet you and you can certainly hear them squawking too! A lot of the photos were taken in the shade as it was 30 degrees that day with the humidity- so nobody wanted to go out into the sun..we might melt!

We love this little zoo as you can get pretty up close and personal with the animals...So, I will have a few weeks of photos from this place!

Have a great week!

and a "BEHIND THE SCENES" SHOT....

Bon Echo Park Deer

On Sunday the family and I headed to Bon Echo Park to enjoy a day near the beach. Keturah's friend, Hailey also came with us! It was a nice, relaxing, day and it was fairly breezy by the water- a good place to spend a hot, humid day with a good book!

On our way out of the park, we saw these gorgeous creatures! I put a few photos on my facebook page and here are the rest of the "good" ones.

A mother deer and her 2 fawns. The mother was busy eating, but the fawns were hamming it up for the camera...Ok, they were probably just wondering what the heck I was doing, but they were so cute--the second photo is my favourite!

Feathered Friends Part III

Welcome back! Today I have more pelican shots...Sorry! These are the last of my "most" favourite shots, taken in Calabash, NC on March Break.

These are photos of the juvenile brown pelicans that we saw. I should have videotaped them as they were walking along..they waddle very similar to penguins...another one of my favourites! They did keep moving away from me for some reason! Maybe they don't like the paparazzi pointing a big camera in their beaks!

The last photo is the one of the little fishing hut, where the fisherman was cleaning fish and where all the other pelicans were congregating.

Next week I shall have shots from the Myrtle Beach Zoo, although I'm not sure what yet..probably more birds! :-)

Have a great week!

Feathered Friends Part II

Hello! This week I have a continuation of the "folder" with the brown pelicans in it from Calabash, North Carolina. The first two shots of are of the pelican group that I highlighted last week. The next 5 are shots of two different pelicans...we are thinking they are juvenile ones, based on their lack of colouring and they are also smaller in size. These guys were in the same area, although over on a different dock by themselves. My favourite shots are 5 and 8..ok, I admit they are all my favourite or I wouldn't have added them!! :-)

I will have another week of pelican shots next week and then I'll move on!

Have a great week!

My Favourite Feathered Friend!

Yep, this is the "folder" everyone has been dreading..my favourite bird..the brown pelican! It was really hard to narrow it down to about 30 photos of the cute little guys, but I managed..sorry if some of these look the same..I liked the photo for some reason or I wouldn't have included it...I really wanted to just add all 210 of them! So, you know what you'll be getting for the next couple of weeks! :-)

Anyway, these were taken at the Calabash waterfront. We stopped there for lunch (at Captain Nance's) after visiting an awesome giftshop called Callahan's of Calabash..it is in North Carolina and was about 35 mins from our hotel.

These guys were eyeballing a fisherman who was cleaning fish. We asked the fisherman questions about the pelicans as you can see some have different colouring, but he wasn't very helpful! :-D

And since today is July 1st...Happy Canada Day! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Til next week...
