Bird Kingdom, Pt. 2

Bird Kingdom, Niagara Falls, Ontario

 Welcome Back!

This time I have some other creatures to highlight. These are found on the first floor of the Bird Kingdom...Just to warm you up before you go into the bird aviaries.

You will find below: tortoises, bearded dragons, a lizard of some sort and a burmese python pile. I'm glad it was sleeping, as I hate to watch them slither around! :-)

This week went by quickly as they all seem to! I worked in the store a bit and also helped get displays ready for their trip to California to the big CHA show in January. I will be teaching some classes in January too! I hope people sign up for them! :-)

This weekend was spent Xmas shopping, visiting friends at the Lazy Gardener and at an Epicure Open House too! Today we finally decked our halls, here at the Maracle Homestead. I should say, Keturah did. I've been busy getting my cards ready to mail out and doing laundry and cooking a nice dinner and doing some paperwork for SMaracle Designs! Fun stuff!

Have a great week!

Saunders Country Zoo, Pt.9

Welcome Back!

This week I'm including more shots from the Saunders Country Zoo. These include the baby leopard checking out a sheep, some serval cats (they are for sale here too), donkeys, the horse and yak and a tortoise---I told you they had a variety of critters here!

Next time I'll have a few more photos from the Saunders Country Zoo and then that will be it! I'll have to start highlighting something else!

Well, this week went by quite fast...Lots of learning going on at school..I come home and my brain is full! :-) I started Adobe Illustrator this week, which is as challenging as Photoshop.

Glad I had today off...to do laundry, dishes and cleaning...Keturah went for her Driver's license today and got it on the first try---there goes my car!

Not much planned for the weekend..probably do some homework and more cleaning and packing up my craft stuff! Kevin is back at QMS full time on Monday, so we will only have nights and weekends to work on the house.

Enjoy your weekend!

Turtles and Tortoises

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some turtle and tortoise shots from the Alligator Adventure! My favourites are the second and the last photos. I think this may be the end of the Alligator Adventure photos! I'll have to find something to highlight next time!

Well, we had a good trip to Myrtle Beach this year. We did alot of walking..my feet were sore everyday! We didn't go back to the Alligator Adventure this year or Ripley's, but we did go to the Waccatee Zoo, Huntington State Beach and of course, the boardwalks, where we typically see some pelicans. Of course, this time there weren't very many of them, so not sure if I got too many shots of them! :-(

The weather was quite different this year! It was 19 when we arrived and then it went up to 25 and 26 on Mon and Tuesday, then on Thursday it was only 8 degrees! So, I was walking around the zoo with my winter coat on! :-) The locals said it hadn't been very nice weather. It was sunny and 14 when we left, so it was hard to get in the car and drive home! We ran into a snowstorm as we got on the Hwy 401 in Gananoque and could not see where we were going, so we got off at the next exit and took the hwy 2 until Kingston (it wasn't snowing there).

I'm glad this week is quiet as I'm fighting the cold that Keturah and Kevin have!

More soon...

Alligator Adventure: Creepy Crawlies and Slitheries

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some creepy creatures from Alligator Adventure that not everyone will like..Sorry for posting the snakes! I know I have a couple of readers who don't like the little guys! I don't either, unless they are behind 2 inches of glass, like these ones were! They are in a darkened building which makes them even creepier, if that's possible!

Well, today I'm enjoying a quiet day at home...no errands or anything! Yeah! Probably do some homework, housework and maybe watch a movie. Dinner out tonight with Kevin...Keturah is off to a Valentine's Day Dance.

Brooke comes home tomorrow on the train and it's a long weekend! Family Day on Monday, but better yet, 3 days to sleep in and now having said that, I won't be able to sleep past 6! SIGH

Have a GREAT weekend!

(sorry if the photos do not appear spaced or lined up properly..I was having issues today posting these photos)

Alligator Adventure: Birds & Tortoises

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some non-alligator critters found at Alligator Adventure! The first four photos are of the Sarus Crane. He's very pretty with his red plumage and red eye!

The next two photos are of the Spur Thigh Tortoise. He isn't too big, compared to the ones near the exit, which I'll highlight another day!

The last two photos are of the Macaws. These guys were not cooperating for photos even though I stood there for ages waiting for them to turn around! :-)

Well, this week has been crazy and I'm so out of my routine! I must get to the gym today, as I haven't been all week due to weather and whatnot! Keturah was off yesterday and so we headed to Kingston to shop for her semi-formal dress. We had a great day until we headed home and ended up in the ditch in a big snowbank! (Keturah was driving on a snow-covered road!) Anyway, we were okay, just a bit shook up! I was surprised by how many people stopped to see if we were okay--my faith in humanity is restored! We had a very nice policeman who waited with us until the tow truck came. Thanks also to my brother-in-law, Les who hooked us up with the towing service! No damage to my car either! Whew!

Anyway, more snow this weekend!! SIGH. We were hoping to go to Waterloo to take Brooke out for dinner for her birthday, but I guess we probably won't unless we go on Sunday, but we'll have to see what the weather will be like...Don't want to end up in the ditch again! :-)

Have a great weekend!

Big Tortoises

Sorry for the delay in posting...I thought I'd have time to post when we were in MB, but I barely had time to backup my photos each night before dropping into bed! We had to come back home for a rest! Really! We got home late last Saturday night, but with the loads of laundry, getting groceries, and picking up our animals from the pet-sitters, we were busy all weekend! Then I felt sick all week too--I got Kevin/Brooke's cold...

Anyway, today's photos were taken at the Alligator Adventure, where, yep, you guessed it--lots of alligators live there! Near the end of our walk, we saw these big guys. They started heading over to the fence to check us out, so we made sure to pet them, feel their big, hard shells and scratch their necks!
The first two photos below show the smaller one and the last 4 are of the bigger one! I've included photos of the family so you can see how big these guys really are.

They were pretty friendly too!
