Lemoine's Point Conservation Area Black Squirrel

Kingston, ON

 Welcome Back!

Sorry for the delay in posting...we've been busy! Well, not really, but with the nice weather here, I'd much rather be outside than sitting inside on my laptop! :-)

Well, I passed a milestone on April 28th for this blog. I have been doing this blog since 2008...that's 9 years now..wow! Time does fly when you are having fun!

This week, I wanted to finish highlighting the photos from this June day in 2015, when we went for a hike at Lemoine's Point in Kingston, Ontario.

The last critter to highlight was this black squirrel, who was scarily friendly...he looks menacing in some of the pics and I remember thinking that maybe it had rabies as it was not afraid of us in the least....:-) He looked like he wanted to beat us up and steal our sunflowers seeds! haha

Anyway, enough for today! Enjoy your week!

Lemoine's Point Conservation Area Downy Woodpecker

Kingston, Ontario

Welcome Back!

These photos of a Downy Woodpecker were taken at the Lemoine's Point Conservation Area in Kingston.

This one was playing hide and seek and kept peeking at us around the trees. It is a female woodpecker, as the male one has a red tuft of fur on his head. I believe I do have pics on this blog of a male woodpecker, probably taken at the same spot.

Well, I may be MIA for a week or so as I'm flying to Ottawa and driving back here with Keturah, as she moves the rest of her belongings here.

Have a great week!

Lemoine's Point Conservation Area Critters

Kingston, ON

Welcome Back!

This week I have a selection of small animals from the Lemoine's Point Conservation Area! All but one, are pics of the chipmunks. They are very friendly, sometimes too friendly...I find that having Zeek with us, they aren't as willing to come close. The black squirrel was the same...They get fed by alot of people, so aren't as "wild" as they should be!

They are fast little buggers too, so you have to be quick with the click (of the camera shutter)! :-)

Next time I will have some woodpecker photos from the same place/day as these were taken!

Have a great week!

Lemoine's Point Conservation Area Wildlife

Kingston, Ontario

Welcome back!

This time I'm highlighting some of the wildlife found at the Lemoine's Point Conservation Area in Kingston, Ontario. We love going for walks here in the spring and fall.

This day in June 2015, we saw mallard ducks and their babies as well as a few squirrels and chipmunks. Here are a few of those pics with more coming over the next couple of weeks too!

We are heading to Ontario for Easter holidays, so I won't be posting for a couple of weeks. Have a great Easter weekend!

More soon!

Lemoine's Point Conservation Area

Kingston, Ontario

Welcome back!

This week I'm highlighting some birds from the Lemoine's Point Conservation Area. The area has lots of trails, so you can take a shorter one or the longer one...we usually do the longer one as it's still under 2 hours...there are probably longer ones, but that's the main one that we try to stick to each time.

These are photos of the Black-Capped Chickadee (first 7 photos)  and the White-Breasted Nuthatch (last 2 photos).

These are quite common on our walks any time of the year, but these were taken last April...hard to believe it's been that long! They are quite comical birds and we love watching them and of course, feeding them..They love peanuts, but we usually have sunflower seeds. They will dig through the seeds looking to see what else is there, hoping for peanuts I'm guessing!

Have a great week!

Lemoine's Point, Pt.2

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting the last of the photos I took at Lemoine's Point in Kingston. These include my favourite local bird, the nuthatch. They are so comical to watch. They really check us out before they will come over and land on your hand (Kevin's in these pictures---mine aren't that hairy!) They also come down the tree very funny, circling the tree as they do, so we think they are gone, but really, they are just on the back on the tree! They also look like they are folded in half on the tree as well, but they got to keep an eye on us I guess!

The last photo is one of a very cautious deer, who didn't want to come too close! Which is good as it is a wild animal and should stay that way, as much as we'd love to pet it, etc.

Next time I think I will post some alligator photos from Myrtle Beach (last March) that I took and noticed that I never highlighted. It's almost time to head back to MB, so I best get these posted!

Well, I've been busy the last couple of days sweating at the gym and I also signed up for a couple of online courses--one craft-related (Cricut Craftroom) and one work-related, which is an Introduction to CSS and HTML5..Lots of reading and assignments --6 weeks long..I'm excited, but I hope I can survive it! :-)

Have a GREAT weekend!

Scenes from Lemoine's Point!

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some shots I took while at Lemoine's Point Conservation Area in Kingston. This is probably our favourite place to go hiking...It takes us about 1.5-2hrs to go through the trail, but we often stop to feed the critters and of course, to take photos! I'm usually lugging 40lbs of camera equipment with me, so I'm usually way behind the family!

This time I'm including some photos of flowers and/or scenery..I don't usually add a lot of these as my favourite subject is wildlife, but I liked these photos and thought we needed some brightness, after the dreary rain we've been having here in Ontario!

I debated including the caterpillar and it took everything in me for me to add it...I HATE these things--even more than snakes! Yicky! Lucky for it, it's colourful!

Well, this week has been quiet..I've been feeling kind of crappy since Saturday...headache, plugged ears and sinuses....The Tylenol Cold/Flu that I take also upsets my stomach..lucky me! So, I've been taking it easy and trying not to take anything!

Later this week I'll have a few more shots from Lemoine's Point, including a deer and some birds! We always find a variety of critters there!

After that, I'm not sure what I'll include..maybe it's time to get out and shoot something new...A trip to Amherst Island may be in order!
