Waccatee Zoo--Final Shots

Welcome Back!

This week I'm highlighting the last of the Zoo photos. These are all winged creatures...Peacocks,  Peahens and a chicken! I wanted to show off the peahen and her lack of colour (compared to the male)..sometimes I don't even see these, maybe they are nesting when we are there...The peacock, with its long, long tail is very hard to get into one shot, so I included the only shot that I got of it! I also liked this shot of the chicken!

Well, this week will hopefully be a quiet one...Zeek is getting his hair cut on Thursday, so that will be good. He's pretty shaggy looking..should have had a cut two weeks ago, but our groomer is always so busy!

Enjoy your week!

Waccatee Zoo

Welcome Back!

This time I'm highlighting some photos from the Waccatee Zoo in Myrtle Beach, actually it's about 25 minute drive out of town, but well worth it. It's kind of run down, but they have a great selection of animals and you are allowed to feed most of them (with their approved snacks).

As you enter the admission building, you see aquariums with snakes, lizards and turtles. Sometimes hard to get good shots through glass, but I managed to get a couple of snake photos..I didn't stick around long to see what kind they were..just eager to see the other animals!

The rest of the critters I'm showing today are farm animals....a big piggie and some goats. The goats were rather calm, surprising, because they are usually pushing others out of the way to get some of the treats that they sell at reception...maybe because it was so cold on the day we were there. It was 22 on Wednesday and we went to the zoo on Thursday and it was going to be 8. Brrr. it was quite chilly after having such hot weather all week...Good thing I had my winter coat with me, because I definitely needed it that day!

I'll have some more next week!

Well, this week was good. I managed to do everything I had planned! Brooke was home most of the week as she has to work today and every day of the long weekend! So, I'm having a quiet day at home alone doing some chores and laundry. Fun, fun, fun..not!

We are having my sister and hubby over for dinner tomorrow night but no other plans. Thinking about taking a drive to Algonquin Park for a drive for the day, but we'll see how everyone feels come Sunday!

Enjoy your long weekend!

I'm still sharing some photos from Wacatee Zoo, MB---I took so many! Here are a variety of animal shots, taken throughout the zoo.

2nd- a grey squirrel-we fed him too
3rd & 4th-small pig like creatures called Pecaries. They were so cute when they were running around!
5th-a little island in the area where the egrets were...can you see 2 turtles and an alligator?
6th-another little island in the area where the egrets were--includes a sleepy juvenile alligator
7th-a curious ostrich looking for a snack
8th-a zebra taking it easy-the rest of them were running around

Enjoy! More next week!

Egrets Pt. 2

This week I've included the last of my favourite Egret pictures from the Wacatee Zoo. They are so entertaining to watch, I could sit there for hours, but unfortunately, my family isn't as patient as I am! I'm normally not a patient person either, until I get my camera in hand!

Enjoy!

Have a great week!

Great Egrets!

Here are some photos of Great Egrets, taken at Wacatee Zoo. These guys are not part of their animal display...well, I guess they are, but they are from the wild and have taken up residence at the zoo. In the zoomed out photo you can see they make their nests here and there are 100s of them in this area! They are pretty cool to watch as they interact with each other and fly around, build nests, etc. etc.

I love the picture below of just it's behind (#5)..looks like a duster of some sort and then the one photo looks like he has some static cling going on(#9)!

Sorry for adding so many, but I have another 10 or so to add next week and I wanted to split them into 2 weeks, not three!

Enjoy! More next week!
